The Plaice

My first visit here, its a nice well lit,clean and spacious shop with good wheelchair access some parking available in a carpark directly in front of the premises. All the usual chip shop staples are on the menu, including Pucka pie.Nice friendly staff and service. Credit cards are accepted and telephone orders are welcome. They have a 5🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 food hygiene rating. Food review September 2023. I ordered a regular Haddock,chips and large peas to takeaway. The fish is fried to order here. The quality of the fish was very good👌 and well sized for the price, the chips and peas also good sized. Good quality Haddock with plenty of flavour coated in a tasty thin crispy batter. 👍 I paid £8.70 for my meal.

I have used the same chippy for years. Just lately been very disappointed on a good few occasions. So time for a change. Happened to be passing “the plaice” on trinity road. So I decided to call in and give it a try. Really pleased I did. Very friendly staff. Even on a really scorching hot summer day. Placed my order and waited for the fish to be freshly cooked. Personally I prefer it this way. You know it hasn’t been sat on the shelf for ages. The fish was beautifully cooked and the batter was perfect. Nice chips and lovely mushy peas accompanied the fish. My wife also commented that it was really nice. Looking forward to the next time I visit. I think I will become a regular visitor. Thank you Ps. When the fish is this good, it would be nice to have a jumbo option. Or do I have 2 x regular.
