The restaurant, which first opened its doors in 1989, is set atop a pretty street, right next to Cockermouth Castle. Very picturesque and very British.

After a lengthy menu browse, drooling over the sounds of creative and interesting veggie dishes, of which all but one was vegan or veganisable, we finally settled on our choices.

A beautiful, cozy and welcoming restaurant with an innovative and delicious menu. We had the taster menu and it was perfect. I opted for the local cheese selection which was incredible! COVID precautions excellently adhered too. We will be back!

If you are a foodie searching for a top quality dining experience, this is the place for you! The atmosphere is warm and intimate, the service friendly and unobtrusive, and the ingredients are picked to compliment each other perfectly, all being cooked to the highest standard. I live 286 miles away from this restaurant, but I can guarantee I will be returning.

Just had a beautiful meal from the quince and medlar in Cockermouth. The food was from the taster menu. 3 starters, 3 main, and 3 puddings. I did not think vegetarian food could taste so good. Lovely hospitality. Definitely recommend.

We visited Quince and Medlar for the first time yesterday and it didn't disappoint. The food was interesting and delicious, the portion sizes were adequate. The surroundings were quirky and cosy with an open fire which was welcome at this time of year. We will certainly visit again when in the area.

Great service, great atmosphere, and (most importantly!) great food!! Make sure to make a reservation though, as they book up quickly and they may not have room if you just show up.
