Six of us and our little dog visited today. Friendly attentive staff. Nice restaurant area. We all had Sunday roast. Generous portions, well presented, excellently cooked. Tasted delicious. Two still found room for pudding. Excellent value. If you are looking for home cooking a warm welcome and decent ale, this could be for you. Highly recommended.

This place has changed a lot, when I last come here years ago it was very expensive for food and you didn't get much it was like the pub was acting like a 5 star restaurant.
Now it's reasonable price and portions the beer is good and the staff are friendly really nice place to go If your looking for somewhere new to go try this place will surprise you !

Absolutely amazing turkey roast here at the Poet & Castle. Piping hot, very tasty and a beautiful homemade Yorkshire pudding. Our party of 5 all loved it and cleared their plates. Massive compliments to the chef xx

Fantastic meal out, the food was truly amazing. The burgers we had were homemade and they were very very tasty. The pub looks great. The work Ruth and Jim have put in will certainly pay dividends. We will definitely be back. I could only give 5 stars but deserves more

Nice clean country style pub opposite a large free carpark. The pub carpark is rather small so I suggest not using it. The food and drinks are well priced and the food is brought to the table quickly, whether inside or out. Staff are very friendly and helpful, and are to be commended for their service. We where in a party of 14 today and there was a wake on at the same time and they catered for all present easily. There is a large beer garden out back and an area where children can run around and play. Well worth a visit

The poet and castle is a great country pub. And definitely well worth a visit. It has a excellent selection of real ales and ciders along with a very good choice of wines. They have a very good beer garden with views of open countryside. And a children's play area next to the pub . With access through a gate to the side of the beer garden. Children are safe to play there and parents can also keep an eye on them with out having to worry. It's very close to codnor castle as seen on the TV series time team. The staff are excellent and very very helpful. If you're passing take a look. You will be happy you did.
