We love this place. Had an amazing Sunday lunch here about six months back and was really impressed with everything and everyone, so when we were back in lovely Wivenhoe we based ourselves here for the weekend.

The staff were all very friendly and made us feel super welcome. The restaurant was great with delicious food and very comprehensive bar. The rooms were modern, clean and cosy, making it very comfortable and relaxing. Hope to be back soon.
Not usually a fan of roast dinners in pubs, which are often not good quality compared with home cooked. I was therefore very happy to be surprised at how good the roast dinner was at this pub and would have it again! :) Staff were also exceptionally friendly and helpful.
Couldn't recommend the hotel or restaurant highly enough. Beautiful decor, clean, modern and comfortable. The staff couldn't have done any more for us, they went above and beyond.
Food amazing too! Try the chicken curry burger, it is to die for!
A pleasant stay at The Flag Inn Wivenhoe. The room was clean and comfy, and the staff came over to show me around. Continental breakfast was included. Wholeheartedly recommend this accommodation to anyone visiting Wivenhoe!
Room spotlessly clean. Beautiful bed linen and towels. View across the fields from the window. Air con kept the room lovely and cool in the hot weather. Staff friendly and attentive. Food was very good and plentiful.

Easily the nicest place to eat and chill in Colchester and Wivenhoe area. Food is always great. A little pricey but worth it. Nice atmosphere and staff are lovely!

Stayed here for two nights in early July. Could accommodate me at short notice in beautiful room. Great service and friendly staff at check in and breakfast both mornings. Great location for access to essex Uni and colchester with amazing views over the countryside.
I had the roast but wasn't impressed. For £18 I would have expected more on my plate. The Yorkshire pudding was dry and tasteless and the potatoes looked frozen. I would come back and try other dishes on the menu as its a nice place and the staff are great. I also think the pricing of the food could

We stayed at The Flag when visiting friends. Room 8 was a delight to stay in. A boutique hotel vibe, with a comfortable bed and a treat to have a coffee machine in the room. Food was delicious both evenings we dined. Thank you for making us feel so welcome - we'll be back!
Sunday roast: lovely food, generous portions, veg surprisingly delicious and well-seasoned, staff friendly and attentive. Happy to make alcohol-free cocktails on request for my massively pregnant self! They serve great espresso as well (yes, even the decaf). Sticky toffee pudding highly recommended.
