Swan Inn

Visited today. My wife ordered vegetable lasagna as she is vegetarian and there wasnt many choices for her. Unfortunately it was absolutely awful. The staff however were great in dealing with this for her. They gave her a short while to find something she may like on the menu and brought it out to her really quickly and were very apologetic. I have no doubt this is a sort of pre packaged ready meal as such so no blame on the kitchen or the restaurant itself for the poor quality of the dish. As a replacement she had some battered halloumi sticks with a sweet chilli dip and chips which came out quickly and were really nice. Thanks for doing such a great job in dealing with the complaint.

We popped in yesterday after spending the day at Colchester zoo. Despite not having a booking the staff were very welcoming and accommodating for us, the restaurant appeared clean with plenty of floor staff present. However, we waited over an hour for our food and was not informed at the time of ordering that this would be the case, having worked for Greene King for many years myself until recently, this is something customers should be informed of. We appreciate it was a Friday evening and expected a slight wait but it's just courteous to inform customers if it's going to be a long wait, particularly anything over an hour with children present. There is mention on the kids menu about an activity sheet but when we asked for this it never arrived at the table. The 2 main adult meals eventually arrived but the kids meal wasn't brought out until 3 minutes later. There was no apology for this. Overall the food was okay for hungry horse standard.

Had a lovely time with the wife Margret, we were celebrating our 41st anniversary. Margret had the fish and chips, which she thoroughly, Whilst I had the burger, which I must say was one of the best burgers I've ever had! A polite young man, Joshua, served us, taking care of our every need. He took note of my Kiwi allergy and topped up our tap waters whenever appropriate, which you don't get at many places, and I end up thirsty with my condition and all. Anyway, I digress, I would highly recommend this establishment to anyone wanting a great time!
