I cannot rate Ashley, Kelly and their brilliant team of young enthusiastic staff high enough. I could talk about the quality of their fantastic food, or how the Sun Inn is a lovely quaint venue that greets you with wonderful smells which activate the taste buds - but it is the fact that they will go the extra mile to make your experience a special one which make it a truly wonderful place indeed. We hired the barn out the back to be the venue of my dads surprise party and from the off they were really helpful. The wood fired pizza oven is a great touch and needless to say the food was lovely as commented by absolutely everyone who attended. Ashley was more than happy to knock up some cheese free garlic bread upon request, and the young waitresses were brilliant. I wouldn’t hesitate in using the venue again and am looking forward to when we can book a meal there. In fact the only negative I can think of is that it is not located in my town ! Thank you Ashley and Kelly.

Superb food, setting and service. Love that you can get a "beer flight" (three 1/3 of a pint glasses) to try the different ales. The pizzas are amazing, and there is a grand pudding choice too. Friendly, fab place.

The opening times are a bit limited but if you are a group contact the pub in advance and you may find they can serve you. We ordered in advance as we were a group of 12. The food arrived promptly and was delicious. Recommended

Love this place. Friendly staff and another first class visit here on a glorious summers day where we enjoyed a lovely meal (great menu choices of just ‘good’ food) a couple of drinks and a hyper-relaxed atmosphere in the front garden - a four hour lunch well worth the drive for!

Excellent meal, the pies were mouthwatering. I'd highly recommend this pub to anyone. The hospitality was great and blankets were provided for a chilly York day. The travel from York city centre was easy enough with the car and didn't take too long. I recommend booking in advance as it fills up and for good reason.

First time visiting and we were really impressed. Great location, plenty of parking and a heated outdoor area. The food was top class and the staff were really welcoming and helpful throughout our visit. Definitely returning soon!

Stopped for an evening meal on the way up to Whitby. Lovely village location. Felt out of the way but is close to main roads. Great ambience and comfortable surroundings. Food was excellent and very well presented. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Very good drink selection, including a new Aspall's cider that I'd not heard of before which was very tasty.

Pretty good food that goes beyond the usual "pub grub". Quite a long drive - part of it on narrow country lanes that adds to the charm. Loved my haddock though ham terrine was too salty. Mixed dessert was awesome. Good friendly service.

Wonderful atmosphere, friendly staff, varied menu, and several guest beers. Lovely lunch. A place I went to back in the day growing up nearby, and it is brilliant to see it in such good hands now. Will be back soon!
