I am gluten free and there is only certain chip shop that cater for us. So this is a great find. I have tried this twice now and one of the best around. Don’t be put off if you see the shop busy, it’s because they’re cooking everything fresh to order and the fish is always cooked so well. Very friendly staff and home made brownies are delicious.
The kebabs are huge, you also get the option of a free portion of chips or pot of sauce.

Best Fish n Chips in the UK nevermind the North East. Fish is cooked to order just how you like it. Portions are so large I've never known anyone finish a whole meal. We ordered fish and chips, salt and pepper squid. Tartar sauce was lovely, squid was more batter than squid, but still nice with a maple and bourbon sauce. Cod was lovely, but next time would rather order small pieces. Chips could have done with more salt and vinegar.
Just got fish bites on the lunch time special. Was delicious the size of fish bites wow defo come again very helpful staff
This is a great fish & chip shop. The prices are as expected and the food is great. You may have a little wait for fish as they tend to cook to order so place your request as soon as you arrive.
Amazing mixed kebabs they are massive, Mrs loved her cod bites pure white and fluffy, staff are amazing very very helpful. We will be back for sure, thank you for your fantastic food.

As me and my friends passed through consett we came across golden fish Inn. So thought we give It a try. Very friendly and polite staff. Quickly took are order and got on preparing it. They were very busy but quickly made us a fresh food. The cod fish,chip, patties, burger was 10/10 and a big potion
