Bella Art Caffe

A little hidden gem in Coulsdon. I've visited this cafe many times now and I'm never disappointed. Food is amazing, iced Mochas are to die for and the staff are friendly and cannot do enough. I've also used this cafe to hold meetings. This is a friendly welcoming cafe and an asset to Coulsdon and the community.

A lovely independent cafe with good coffee and food, and free WiFi. I just spent nearly 5 hours hanging out here while my car was being serviced/MoT'd across the road. This is something I have done on two previous occasions over the last 3 years. Each time I have enjoyed the food, drink, service and atmosphere here. On this occasion I had two perfectly poached eggs and two very tasty sausages on toast with good, strong, tasty coffee for my breakfast. I was able to hang out, having the occasional drink, working on my laptop with their fast, and free, wi-fi. I saw plenty of places to plug in and recharge if needed too. I ended up having lunch here as well, soup of the day, which was spicy lentil, absolutely delicious, and perfect for a cold, wet, winter's day. The fact that this lovely independent cafe is here, will be a key factor in choosing the next place I go for work on the car, and although I don't live especially close I will definitely pop in if in the area.

This IS a complaint, however the Cafe deservess 5 stars for previous visits in the past. It's not unusual for a cafe to ask customers to refrain from using other brands in their premises, however there are some scenarios where exceptions can be made. Today being Wednesday 24th August at 10:30am I met my colleague for catch up and to have breakfast. I've been before for meetings and always suggest Bella Art Caffè because of the lovely breakfast and chilled atmosphere. While looking at the menu I was told by a member of staff that I couldn't cosume my costa coffee, and would have to either throw it away or finish it outside. I assured her that i fully understood her request, however we were in the process of ordering breakfast with them and asked if she could make an exception or at least allow me to pour it into a mug as it was half full. She refused and made it clear that if I wasn't happy I could leave - which we did and spent our money else where, despite my colleague had already bought tea which she left behind. I'm sure as we walked out the door, the member of staff thought she had won a battle, which hopefully has brightened up her day. The same member of staff was lone working a while back and was rushed of her feet with orders. I remember waiting a while for my breakfast and didn't complain as I could see she was under pressure - the breakfast that day wasn't great but I made an exception given the situation!!
