Visited with family on November 4th. Will and Hannah were brilliant and a credit to the restaurant, accommodating our meal preferences without an ounce of impatience. Service was fantastic - the best I have come across in an eatery. I am vegan and my sister is coeliac and doesn't eat eggs - the Playwrights catered for both of us effortlessly. This is the first restaurant I have been to where the vegan menu was more enviable than the main menu, so much so that those of us who were not vegan or gluten intolerant ended up ordering from this menu. Portions were the right size.

The food was beautiful, the service was 100%, my son was 21 & given a free 2 course meal. I literally couldn't rate this place higher. Independent & not a boring franchise too�

Visited a couple of times a few months ago, nice for a bit of lunch, food was nice (perhaps a tad expensive for what you get), personable staff, bright and clean interior. Would go again.

Mexican Experience. I recently went to Playwrights for it's Mexican Night which takes place once a month on a Saturday. The place was packed and the atmosphere was fantastic with great food to match. The menu was surprisingly authentic, with all of the dishes home made. Energetic, friendly staff and plenty of tequilla!!We have rebooked for the next one. Definately one to recommend.

Playwrights. Went to Playwrights with friends over from USA. The new owner (Nicola ) went out of her way to accomodate 10 of us. The service was excellent and food first class and delivered all about the same time.Any questions regarding the menu were answered politely and because we had brought friends in from USA we were given a complimentary round of drinks.Nicola then went on to tell us about her plans for the bar and even took on board comments we made.She really seems to have ambition and i wish her all the best for the future. in these hard times it is good to see a young girl having a go at a small business. GOOD LUCK TO YOU.......

New Ownership. As of 1st of March 2010 Playwrights Cafe Bar and Bistro will be under new ownership. We will be keeping the same traditional style Bistro menu with a few updates. Hopefully the fish pie wont be 'bland' and the burgers wont be like 'rubber'!

With great sadness I've noticed last time that this place has been closed and many others in Coventry that I loved. I felt heart broken. Did anyone else feel like that? My old review said: "Beautiful little restaurant with great food and amazing quick and friendly staff, situated in the heart of historic Coventry."

Great place!! food always fresh, or to catch up with drinks with friends, its right in the centre center so perfect for exploring all the wonderful buildings and the history of this awesome city. staff are wonderful, very clean delightful atmosphere!

Super tasty food and friendly staff. Have been here a few times, would definitely recommend. My only problem is the chairs, a tad uncomfortable if you're a big guy like me

This is a lovely cafe/restaurant off the main high streets. Has a relatively good range on the menu with vegetarian and gluten free food available. Staff are very friendly and accommodating to whatever you need! Just need a few more alcohol free beer! I can highly recommend the ploughman's!!!!

They have a separate menu for vegans, which is very impressive, and I absolutely loved my meal! Staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was very pleasant. Will be going back
