Good sisha and tasty lebanese food, arabian layout in a lovely garden, nice place in summer. Tried the loubieh and the tabouleh which brought back lebanese nostalgia.
Honestly, I am surprised to see such poor reviews of Habibi. It is no fancy fine diner, but it is definitely a casual and comfortable place for a good meal. They do not serve alcohol, but do allow you to bring your own. There are plenty of vegetarian options, which is such a relief! Food tastes great, especially the halloumi cheese and rice wrapped in wine leaves. The inner seating is quite spacious and comfortable. Service was good too. Note that they have a malfunctioning card machine, so will only accept cash. A good experience, and worth visiting for a no-fuss outing.
I could have stayed here all night!
I'd heard some really good things about this place and it was better than I expected.
We were led through the restaurant to the garden Area which was beautiful. They have cushions on the floor around tables which is very me! The menu all looked delicious and deffinately my style of eating.
We ordered lots of little dishes of hummous with lamb and chicken , falafel, grilled haloumi and lamb sandwich. I shall deffinately be returning and won't be driving as you can take your own alcohol if you order food over £10.they also offer shisha's with a lot of flavours. This is such a hidden gem and makes you feel that you are far away from Coventry.
This is a must if you enjoy middle eastern foods and a nice chilled vibe!
People had raved about Habibi to me for years, since I lived back home some 10 years ago!
Every time I have been back to visit family and friends, I've always meant to go to Habibi and it just never materialised. On my most recent visit however, after a failed visit to 2 restaurants in Coventry, I suggested Habibi as a last ditch attempt to get some food as we were starving.
Let me tell you now, Habibi lives up to the hype!! From outside it looks like a small cafe, but as you walk further towards the back of the restaurant it opens up and there is a large shisha garden completely with comfy cushions and low tables for you to eat from.
Middle Eastern cuisine is what you'll find here, and boy do they do it well! We pored over the menu for about half an hour before deciding to order anything, it all looked so amazing! We decided to go for a few dishes to pick at and share. I had some halloumi, some absolutely divine hummous with cooked lamb, and quite possibly the best falafel I've ever tasted. Honestly my mouth is watering just thinking about it all, I want to go back there. We all had a lamb shwarma each too.
It was definitely one of my favourite meals out that I've had in a long time - I can't wait to visit again and get through some more of the menu!
Nice Persian restaurant offering delicious food! I thought the establishment itself was beautiful and had a charming Middle Eastern personality to it. The garden setting was my favorite area; next time, I will definitively go back there to partake in a shisha session hehe... A little indulgence here and there won't hurt anyone!
My group opted to go for the Mezza to sample a variety of dishes: Hommous, Baba Ghanoujj, Salata Arabia, Warek Enab, falafel, and shawarma. The falafel and warek enab were my favorites. They also had flavorful baklava...
They don't sell alcohol, but you're welcome to bring your own. We brought wine and champagne since we were celebrating a friend's PhD scholarship. Habibi simply charged a small corkage fee, and were very accommodating.
Delicious :) if you like Middle Eastern food, just go!
The only important things to note is that Habibi is cash only and be prepared to be there longer than most places as starters and mains are quite staggered.
A cosy little Persian (BYOB) restaurant located away from the main pub and club strip in Coventry City centre, offering something a bit different in a town that is slowly being overrun with cookie cutter chains.
I'm terrible at choosing what to eat, especially when it all sounds so delicious! But Habibi's helpfully offer a sharable set meal platter with a taster of most dishes, which is perfect for 2-3 to share. The menu is heavily meat based - all freshly marinated and grilled to order - but they also provide a vegetarian platter and mains, so there are plenty of options when in a group.
After your meal I fully recommend rounding off an evening meal with a fresh mint tea and a fruity shisha, lolling about on the floor cushions in the bedouin tent out in the back garden.
Great arabic restaurant (it doesn't pigeonhole itself more than that). Set in one of Far Gosford Street's old buildings - occupying both ground and first floor, extended at the back and with a HUGE tent beyond that - it's rather higgledy piggeldy with cushions, candles and carpets all around.
The food is awesome, particularly the range of veggie stuff on offer. It's cheap too - I usually go in with one particular friend and order far too many dishes so have to sit for hours eating, drinking and chatting.
Some tables are 'proper' - you know, real seats at the proper height with backs and everything some of the areas are on the floor with huge cushions and squat tables, great for huddling around and making plans. The star of the show at Habibi's though is the huge tent at the back, with a massive charcoal barbecue in the centre, where you can sit to eat and smoke shisha. Shoes off first though! Particularly good on a rainy night - it doesnt seem that the tent should be waterproof (it appears to be made from rugs), but it is.
It's BYO here and there's an off licence just opposite.
Good quality Arabic food, have extensive Mezza dishes, a large menu suitable for a lunch or dinner. A lovely outside seating area is provided, useful especially if you wish to partake in the smoking of Shisha pipes. Prices are variable, sandwiches etc. are very good value, the Mezza is more pricey, but all food is high quality and tasty.
Great place! Been coming here for years but mainly to smoke shisha in the Garden.. which is very cosy and homely arabic styled floor seating with a nice fire and cushions! The smoking area is cleverly covered by a huge tent and although legally it is classed outdoors, it has that nice indoor feeling and is a great place to relax and chill with friends come rain or shine! Owner is a friendly and kind lady! Habibi is a must!!!
Took a small sample of the menu home for the other half to try to see if he liked it so we can go back on his birthday for a full sit in menu. All very enjoyable food, the staff couldnt be nicer, the chicken fell off the bone and was flavourful and delicious, rice was fresh and fiery.
Thank you for making a dark and dreary evening a bit brighter, much obliged, we will be back soon.
It's a Lebanese cuisine restaurant located on Far Gosford Street, Coventry. Interior decoration is nice and service is quick.Stuffs are polite and attentive.Pocket pinch is reasonable. The food was tasty.
Delicious food! Full of flavour. Very pleasant staff. We'll definitely be going back. Thank you!
A new venue for this old favourite of ours. The decor was bare and bland unlike its previous incarnation which was cosy and vibrant and full of Middle Eastern artefacts. The food however was delicious , freshly cooked and full of flavour. The waiter couldn’t do enough for us and we enjoyed the meal as always. Highly recommended.
I don’t know what to say other than I haven’t had food this good in years. It’s my absolute favourite place to eat. انا احب حبيبي
One of the best and always upgrading
