Hung Lay Thai Curry

Ordered via Just-Eat. After being super disappointed with another place (*coughcough* Thai Dusit *coughcough*), I'm just so estatic to find an authentic Thai restaurant in Coventry!!! We ordered three different dishes; they were all delicious in their own way, even though some were slightly off from the traditional recipe. The green curry was slightly too sweet for me, but it was still incredibly enjoyable! The pad cha wasn't technically pad cha (unless I remember it wrong), but it was possibly the highlight of the meal. The tomyum soup was very thick and very strong, but it was hitting all the right spots. Overall, our bellies were on fire and happy!

I collected my breakfast today from Brunch2Go, which is also Hung Lay in the evenings. When I arrived, the food wasn't quite ready, but the owner was so genuinely apologetic, explaining how busy he had been and trying to adjust to an increasingly delivery-only industry during lockdowns. He went on to say the food was cooked fresh to order, so it was disappointing for him that his customers sometimes didn't get things quickly enough to benefit from that Let me tell you, it makes a difference. I was happy to wait and support a small local business. I was excited, having found out they do gluten free bacon batches, and gf sausages too. It was already worth my time. But also, the food quality was excellent! I so enjoyed all of it- the triple bacon breakfast and my cheeky gf bacon batch. The batch was especially lovely. A lot of gf bread has an unpleasant texture, but this was soft and fluffy and had an almost buttery taste. It was perfect and I was overjoyed. What was equally important to me was interacting with this real person, doing his best in unprecedented times. He was honest, gave me great service, and cooked me great food. Remember that patience is a virtue, and we are very lucky to still have places like this to make us lovely food to brighten up our lockdown

There are two takeaways in one, with breakfast/brunch served in the morning and amazing Thai food in the afternoon. I have ordered both and the food here is very good. The staff are really friendly and listen to feedback. I've found the best way to order is to call them direct then go in to collect. Delivery is also available if you want it.
