Completely exceeded my expectations. I expected this place to be your regular gastropub, but then got a level of excellence which is rare to find around the Coventry dining scene! Huge congratulations, from the lovely staff to the next level food, I am very impressed. I ordered a fish and chips dish and got the poshest and one of the most impressively delicious fish and chips I’ve ever had! Worth every penny!

Well, I've never been to a pub with theatre seats before! We decided to give the GD a go after realising that Selmina's nearby was full. The food was gorgeous - intriguing and delicious. Locally sourced. Great service too, and they're happy to do kids' portions of items on the menu. The only catch was that our kids didn't like the 'differentness' of it, and we're sorry the owner looked a little defeated about that. They came round to the confit potatoes soon though, and couldn't get enough of them! The prices are so reasonable for the culinary standard. Better than a 2 Michelin starred place we'd tried a few years ago! We'll definitely be back, but maybe without the kids...

This was one of those happy occurrences where you think you’re going for a standard night out with friends & the food would be incidental. We were talking about the food from the starters to the desserts. The chef here is very good. The lamb neck croquettes are sublime, as is the Pearl barley risotto. My hake was cooked perfectly. The service was really good. Knowledgable, efficient, friendly, polite and witty. The restaurant space is beautiful. I lived in Coventry for 38 years & moved back home 2 years ago. This is the best food I’ve had in Coventry. Very highly recommend.

All the dishes were full of different flavours. Imaginative presentation, decent portion sizes and super tasty. The textures of chocolate dessert was a bit special! Friendly and attentive service. Upstairs has a nice cosy yet stylish atmosphere.

The food was amazing , and so was the service. The food tasted amazing and everything seemed fresh. I had the raviloi for starters and burguer for main meal , while my gf had the sausage and mash with gravy and brownies with ice cream for dessert. My meal was 10/10 and so was her, her gravy was so good I had it half for my self to eat with my chips. And my beef patty and cheese woooow. It is a bit pricey , but portions are big and honestly there's chains in Coventry that charge almost the same and everything is frozen. So totally worth the price.

Why have we not been here before??? The BEST Sunday dinner we've ever had. All 3 of us had the beef and it was cooked to perfection! All of the accompaniments were also delicious. 100% will be back for another Sunday dinner. Really looking forward to trying the regular menu too.

Dropped in for an unplanned late afternoon drink and bite to eat. Made very welcome by Amy, (which is not always the case for a solo diner with a small dog) and the food was absolutely world class. Couldn't decide which of the many items on my 3 'small' plates was the most delicious - even the flat bread accompanying my kebab was the best I've ever tasted. And a drinks menu with a genuine commitment to quality British wines was an unexpected delight too. Even the background music was perfect, relaxed yet interesting, and I left very happy, well fed and satisfied. The GD is definitely a treasue to be savoured. Thank you!

What a hidden gem! Went with friends Friday, was so blown away that I booked a table for Saturday night. Wonderful cocktails, with slight quirky twists, winter margarita is a must! Everything ordered was a delight, highlights were the mushrooms on toast, fillet steak... o my god the peppercorn sauce was worthy of plate licking...and the pork tomahawk. Staff all friendly and knowledgeable. See you again soon.

Absolutely stunning pub! Really beautiful with enthusiastic staff who seem to genuinely enjoy working here. The food was simply amazing, I had the Sunday roast with a goats cheese salad and couldn't stop raving about how delicious and well presented everything was. Absolutely my favourite recommendation in Coventry!
