The most amazing bakery on the island!
The bread and cakes on display were simply mouth watering.
The lady was genuine and very kind in her own way, she teated us nicely and joked with us.
Of course the cakes were the most remarkable thing! We ordered carrot cake and short bread and despite the huge portions, we could have eaten a second round!
Highly recommended!
The place has mixed reviews, so felt the need to pitch in.
First of all, it's a lovely place. Authentic, down to earth, simple in all the right ways. Really enjoyed a scone here (biggest I have ever had), and liked that they serve it a little differently.
As far as the lady goes, I have a normal pleasant interaction. She does seem like she is being her real self, and that's something I respect.
Either way, I highly recommend this place. Don't be deterred by the score.
We've been coming here over several years and love the food. The lady is a character but always comes up trumps. I particularly like the giant blueberry scones and the pastries are always a huge hit with the family.
Ok, the reviews are a bit over the top, I have lived in Cowes for years and have been in this bakery many times. It is a unique bakery with unique staff, in a good way but I didn’t go in for the staff, I went with my wife last week to have a hot bacon cobb with a cuppa and they were BLOODY LUVERLEY. If you take the reviews seriously and don’t go, you will miss out, which is fine cos it leaves more bacon cobs for us!
I’ve been to this bakery several times now despite my initial anxiety having read some of the previous reviews. However I’m very glad I ignored them and went for it!
The selection of cakes, cookies, tray bakes and breads is incredible and the food is really delicious. I’ve found the staff to be nothing but friendly, smiley and very welcoming. As someone who bakes a lot myself, I think I am reasonably good judge and certainly the bakes are unique, beautifully soft, full of flavour, generous in portion size and well worth the prices.
I guess we all sometimes need to remember that everyone has off days and not to judge by one experience!
I don't recognise some of the low ratings because we found the shop to be welcoming and the portions to be great. We purchased rolls and coffee; and ate them outside the front of the store. We also purchased cake but were too full to eat it. Whilst eating, the cinnamon wafted outside. If you are in Cowes and fancy a bread product, give this place a go.
The giant cookies are addictive, I just dropped £30 on cookies and I don't regret it one bit! Really friendly service and you can tell everything is fresh as possible, place smells amazing.
We bought two scones, the lady was very nice, and the scones were absolutely the best, definitely will be returning, the choice was amazing, and all looked delicious 🙂
Loved this place. The woman running the place is a character (the weak minded probably consider this rude) but it's her shop so she can do what she wants! We ordered croissants, bacon rolls and coffee and it was all top quality.
Visited twice whilst on holiday, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience each time. The proprietress pretends to takes few prisoners, but her bark is way worse than her non-existent bite, and the pain aux raisins, plus the pain au chocolat were the best my wife and I have eaten outside France. Happy to recommend it and will be even happier to return.
