Excellent little cafe with healthy home-made options and lovely choices for children and excellent coffee too. We had delicious leek and potato soup with apple and nutmeg, a lovely healthy salad with beetroot, kale, and tahini dressing, and very tasty cheese toasty with salami. The children loved their peanut butter on toast and their outstanding cinnamon buns: soft and so fresh.
Such a lovely little gem tucked away in the Cairngorms. Breakfast and lunch are divine, with their supper clubs a special treat.
Caitlin, Tom, and all the crew at the Tarmachan are so passionate to share their food and venue with everyone - love it.
Stumbled upon this lovely cafe whilst driving past, we then discovered it was dog friendly so we turned around to grab a bite to eat. Such a fab place, really welcoming and all food locally sourced. Food was really tasty and the best side salad I've eaten... no green leaves, tomatoes or cucumber in sight! Staff were great with the dogs and were given a salami slice 'dog treat' as we left. Would highly recommend a visit if you're in the area.
What amazing food! We were so tempted that instead of just a coffee, we landed up having pies, sausage rolls and cakes! The cafe is in a lovely building and in summer it would be fantastic to sit outside and enjoy the superb views. I'll definitely be back 😁
This place is the opposite of most cafes when it comes to food. It’s a vegan and vegetarian menu with a few meat items. Salads were delicious, venison sausage roll superb and their coffee was very nicely balanced. I reserve a special place for the cinnamon buns, spice you can actually taste, icing that is thin enough to penetrate the dough all combine to deliver a really tasty treat. Worth a detour if your not passing.

Perfect espresso based coffee, amazing cakes (yes, that lemon meringue tasted as good as it looks) and great food.
We’ve been coming here for a few years during our annual Scotland summer holiday with my in-laws and at least one visit to the cafe is now a firm part of the checklist of things to ensure we do.
Had heard about this place so decided to take the long way round from Edinburgh to Aberdeen.
So pleased we did. A lovely designed, well presented cafe. Really lovely girls who served us our really good food, a pie and really great salad.
All in all, really enjoyed our visit and our dog could get in as well. Excellent all round!
Lovely place for lunch, so glad we detoured here after Muir of Dinnet. The mixed salad was so refreshing, great coffee, fab selection of hot food, great service.
Lovely little hidden gem! Must visit if you’ve just completed a hike around Balmoral. Friendly staff and a nice modern interior. Can’t complain one bit

I had the kimchi and fried egg with sriracha sauce breakfast roll which was delicious.
The oatmilk flat white coffee was really lovely too.
