Staff I met were excellent and service is everything. Breakfast was good and included in the price.
It’s not a 4 star ⭐️ hotel. It’s a ‘local’ town hotel now part of a small chain.
Some repairs are being carried out on the roof then I’m informed they will be looking at updating other areas.
The bedrooms were clean with excellently clean bedspreads and bathroom.
It’s a place to sleep.
For me… a tiny bit expensive, but for the hotel; maybe not enough with all the costs of today, such as electricity prices. Also not a lot of alternatives in the town. (It is a small former market town, more of a throughway town really!)
Would I stay here again… YES.
Be aware that parking is close by, but not included in the price. Check out the Lidl parking area for prices. No long term, free daytime parking nearby available either.
Visited this hotel with bed and breakfast in March 2023. Didn't know what to expect. There is no parking on site, but parking is in lidls, or another car park round the corner. Very cheap too. Staff were great, thank you for looking after us. All was catered for. Food was great, so please make sure you dine here. So guys pls come down. Free WiFi which works in the room too.
There are local shops which are nice to go and look at too.
Shame about parking, but other than that fantastic. Nice place, good atmosphere, and an amazing young lady behind the bar. Katy went above and beyond, to help me make it to a wedding. Proper old school, friendly, helpful, service!

Warm welcome, nice, comfortable, very clean room with big bathroom. Freshly cooked breakfast. Friendly staff. Hotel is central in delightful little old market town. Perfect location to explore surrounding areas.

I recently spent a night at the George Hotel, and everything was fantastic. The room and ensuite bathroom were clean and warm, and the room had a cosy feel to it. Perhaps most importantly, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to cater for our rather complicated special diet (vegan and various intolerances) and really made sure that everyone was happy and got what they needed. Wish everyone was that kind and helpful. Would definitely recommend.
Called in for a light lunch. The lady at the bar was very busy with bar orders and orders for outside but was still pleasant and cheerful. We had a good value for money lunch and a lovely glass of wine. The hotel doesn't look particularly appealing from outsdie but don't pass it by.
A very old pub/coaching inn.unfortunately the old court yard is a cut through to other shops. Nice bar area.
After a bad experience at the George back in November 2021, We visited the George this evening for a meal. We hadent booked went on the off chance and how great was the food. Very tasty hot and well presented. The desserts were scrumptious.The new managers there were very friendly and welcoming. Freshly painted and very clean and tidy. We will definitely be going there again when we visit Crewkerne. Well done.
Friendly and welcoming from second we walked in, nothing too much trouble. Good traditional pub classics all freshly cooked. Great vegetarian full English and lovely coffee. Bed (4 poster) very comfortable. Rooms clean and sufficient. Very traditional.pub decor, may not be high spec but feels really comfortable. Owners very friendly and lady behind bar, waitresseing and anything else needed was lovely. Thank you
