1st time here at the tamarind in cwmbran tonight,and what a great surprise it was.I would go to say it's by far the best I've ever had..
The service to start with was excellent,three of us dined and each had a starter.
Poppadums & chutneys.
Lamb chops with chefs own medium heat sauce absolutely scrumptious.
Lamb tikka starter melt in mouth.
Onion bajis really well cooked and lovely.each starter came with it's own 3 sauces.mild chili,tamarind,green yogurt & mint.
Mains were chicken tikka biriyani with veg curry sauce,
Chicken vindaloo,extra garlic & pilaf rice.
Ghandee chicken & mincebeef in a medium sauce & pillau rice.
2 keema nans.
All 3 mains were absolutely delicious & most certainly of a good good measure. ( hence a good size doggy bag upon leaving )
I will most definitely be recommending this restaurant to all of my family & friends.
And we will be back.

Honestly we are very lucky to have such authentic foid in our midst. Great team. Conscientious and caring and just chatty enough. Well done to this restaurant.

So this was our second attempt at eating tonight after the veggie options at the other place were virtually non-existent. We were warmly welcomed by the team into the restaurant which has smart decor.
Poppadoms and chutney tray ordered, nice but we could have done with a spicier sauce rather than the coconut spiced dry mix amongst the standard green yoghurt / sweet red / raw onion topping options.
Starters were good (my daughter had the sea bass and my son had the chicken tikka) and well cooked with great flavours to them as well as three dips (sweet / yoghurt / tamarind).
Mains were nice - we ordered two paneer dishes which were nice if very similar in taste and appearance. Tarka dhal was tasty with rice. The garlic naan was fine but the peshwari naan was really tasty, one of the best I've had.
All in all a good meal, relaxed service, not rushed.
It was very quiet but for a Sunday night that can be expected.

Great food with great service.we got here and the staff said they were just about to stop table service as they concentrate on take aways after 11pm but they would let us stay. We had a fantastic meal as we normally do. Many thanks.
