Wonderful meal here, Sea bass fillets perfection, desserts to die for. Great menu options & a large selection of wines all at very reasonable prices. Will be returning again this week.

Lovely cafe with busy atmosphere but not too noisy.
Staff were welcoming and efficient and even though very busy, food arrived quickly and didn't feel rushed.
We had coffee and breakfasts and both were really nicely done with poached eggs the perfect runniness.
Would recommend and return.
Stop by for a cheeky full English and a coffee. What a lovely place, the staff were amazing tended to our every need with a smile. They are all fully covid safe. The food was lovely. Perfectly poached eggs (something I'm a stickler for) and the coffee was yummy. Highly recommended.

Visited the Imperial Express with another couple on Valentines night 2023. Very warm welcome, upon arrival and as requested a nice bottle of Lauren Perrier Rose on the table in an ice bucket, orders for further drinks taken and delivered promptly, food orders and food ditto, food was great!

We have been using Imperial for over 20 years during which it has been our “go to place” in Darlington. Whether for a simple coffee & snack or brunch or evening meal I can honestly say we have never had a bad experience. Always friendly attentive and excellent food.
Great atmosphere, varied menu, good service. Staff attentive and helpful. Tasty meal. I recommend the lamb and black pudding cottage pie, was a twist on the norm.
