We camped here last week in our caddy van, for FREE. Unfortunately we didn't realise that the pub was closed on a Monday, and this was the day we happened to arrive. But there was a sign up saying pub closed, campsite open. We bumped into the owner, and he was happy to show us where facilities were despite the pub being closed. They have a shower and toilet available to use, which was clean and tidy. Also a small farm shop available with some essential items - honesty box left in the shop. Chickens on site. There is also a SPAR shop over the road. This is a fantastic location, we drove to Tintagel tuesday morning and was only a 10minuet drive! You can even see the sea from the campsite. Quiet site, we slept really well. We would love to come back so that we can check the pub out. Will avoid coming on a Monday next time.

Stayed locally in Delabole for a week and can only say The Bettle and Chisel is a brilliant pub. Wish we lived closer as it'd be my local! Decent range of beers, brilliant staff, friendly locals who were welcoming and I hope this pub gets the support to keep going and fine tune the already great place they have. A community asset that I hope will thrive so its there when we revisit. Free camping is a bonus, along with the supplies available from the shop. Good parking, the food looked great and a relaxing garden for the dog and kids to relax in also.

Had a brilliant time here the owners and staff are some of the kindest and most welcoming people I've met. The campsite was beautiful with views of the sea on well kept, flat land. The onsite shop has all you could need, this is a FREE campsite so we left a donation towards them filling our water drum as I can imagine people ask all the time and this could soon add up costs towards their generosity. We ate in the pub both nights we were going to have fish and chips from the chippy the second night but the kids easily twisted our minds due to the high quality and fresh meals cooked by the chef. * FREE campsite * Honesty shop * Gas supplies * Family friendly * Sea views * B&B * Bar * Beer garden * Breakfast * Lunch * Dinner * Independent

They have a free campsite here which is brilliant. Good flat pitches and a toilet with shower that you can use. We had a meal in the pub which for the most part was ok but one of the meals was not very good, nuked new potatoes which were quite inedible and Hunters Chicken which was just a butterflied chicken breast smothered in bottled barbecue sauce with a strange cheese topping! To be fair the staff were very helpful and understanding and took the price of this meal off the bill. It was probably just a one-off as they seemed to be having staffing issues. It is a quaint pub with a good atmosphere.

What an excellent FREE camp site and bar with excellent service and facilities. We could not have been made to feel more welcome here. 🤙 Finding vegan or plant based meals is not always the easiest however they not only totally got it but had some excellent choices for us and all with a lovely smile. The camping is offered as a part of the Park for Night or similar schemes where you can park for a low fee or free if you grab a drink or meal etc. There’s a new toilet & shower block and the pitches are just what was needed so we were very appreciative and will definitely be back again when in the area. Thank you.

We camped overnight and it was great, very welcoming and had a quick tour around the site. We went for a walk around the slate quarry as food was from 6-9, we had a lovely steak and ale pie! Really lovely little find and dog friendly so we will be back!

OMG! Had the Bolognese sauce with Spaghetti last night. Fresh mozzarella & basil topped off with a banana split. Hopefully, it will be the special, again, tomorrow night!! Lunchtime today I had the chicken & ham mayo on a fresh brioche bun along with a salad. The flavors BURST on your tongue. Highly recommend The Bettle & Chisel!!

Very enjoyable visit to this pub/bar. We were pleasantly surprised by the range of what is on offer here. There a good beer garden and the back, and a very well stocked farm shop between the bar and the beer garden. The staff explained that sometimes people needed things when the village shop was closed, and therefore the farm shop is open as long as the bar it open. All of the veg and produce in the shop looked in top condition and extremely fresh. There are some nice real ales here at the bar, and we decided to book for dinner. My wife had the vegetarian thali and I had the whole fish - both were very good. As other reviews had noted, there is a large car park at the back, where overnight stays are possible for campervans, presumably by pre-arrangement (although we didn't do this ourselves). Good staff, and good place.

This is a very special pub. The landlord is a superb cook who comes up with a new and interesting menu every night. This not your typical 'pub grub' food. Freshly cooked vegetables accompany each meal and it's all delicious. Over three evenings, we had great and varied meals, all offered at very reasonable prices. The staff are very friendly and the atmosphere is cosy. Highly recommend.
