I always try to find balance when writing a review, which usually means I can find fault with something. Two of us turned up without a booking for Sunday lunch, and I can only report that we were seated very quickly, received fantastic service, and as someone who has eaten roast dinners in a lot of chain pub (**EDIT the owner has right corrected me that this is not a "chain pub" - there is some tie to Marston's, but ownership appears to be independent**) had the best roast dinner in memory. Full marks to the staff and the chef.
We were probably lucky to have got a table as it did look busy, so would advise booking ahead during peak periods.

A wonderful find. The menu choices, quality of food and service were excellent.
It was a rainy night when we went but the terrace overlooking the canal would be superb on a summer's evening.

Wonderful setting right by the canal, ample free parking, didn't book and still got fed even though it was obviously very busy. Food was lovely...

Had no reservation on a bank holiday and managed to slot us in no problem and with no complaints. Food was also lovely! The MASSIVE onion rings are amazing.

The service here is impeccable!
I'm usually known as the awkward one, as I'm coeliac and vegetarian, but here I felt it was really inclusive! I was spoilt for choice! The in house chef made my food from scratch! Gf pastry even!
The portions were super generous, and they even came round with extra roasties! Nothing was too much trouble, great knowledge of allergies and I felt like I was in safe hands.
Absolute 10/10. I'd give it more stars if I could.

We had the most amazing food and incredible customer service at the hourglass. Jim the landlord was brilliant with the kids, after a long journey from Swanage. He was so attentive and lovely. Really wonderful experience, the picnic sandwiches were awesome.
Thank you all for making us so welcome.

Sunday lunch was delicious overall. The service was friendly and attentive, and as we had a late booking we were offered extra roast potatoes and cauliflower with cheese. Good smoked mackeral pate and the beef brisket was great.

What a lovely place! And publican and staff are amazing and caring. I broke down on my bike today, and was at the pub for many hours waiting for the recovery people to come ( thats another story ! ) but the publican really looked after me, and i really appreciated it. Its heart warming to know there are still nice people in this world. You must go here, and tell them i told you to ! Mark from 3 rivers HOG. A really top experience, and food is great too !

I don’t normally write reviews, but I couldn’t not share how fantastic the food is at the Hourglass! This is our go to every single Sunday (and to our surprise it just keeps getting better!)
Extremely attentive and friendly staff, top quality food and an all round lovely atmosphere- highly recommend to all.

As part of our annual Harley-Davidson rally season, a few of us pop into this outstanding pub on the way down to North Somerset. The team here are awesome and really go out of their way to welcome us and always look after us. The pub is in a wonderful location, on the waterside. I think they secretly love us all rolling in with our bikes 😉, but genuinely it is a welcome break with great food, drinks and hospitality. Thanks guys.

Me and my daughter are very satisfied by this place. The Food was AMAZING. It was her first time eating mushrooms and she loved it!!! Usually it is hard to make her eat them. I fell in love with the fish, also the sweet end of the dinner. The White Wine was also very nice! Definately a good place to go to!

Not been to The HG for a long time before lockdown. We have just had a very nice lunch for 5 of us and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Three Hot Dogs with onion, chips and tomato salsa (the latter looking and tasting very much like mango chutney) but it was great! The sausage is decribed as 'huge' but that might be slightly more boastful than the truth... One had the HG beef burger with fries and the other had the Cod and chips. All the main courses were lovely and duly polished off. I wish i had gone with the fish and chips as it looked fantastic and the batter I sampled was light and non-greasy. We all had a pudding, four brownies with choice of cream, icecream or custard... the wisest of the group had a beautiful mint Aero cheesecake that was divine. All main courses were £12.50 and puds at £7 (I think) with soft drinks the total came to just shy of £108. We will be back very soon...

My husband threw me a surprise party here with family and friends.
The pub/restaurant is beautifully decorated and designed.
It’s right next to the Kennet & Avon canal and has an outside area to watch the boats go by.
The staff are very friendly and welcoming and nothing is too much trouble.
The food came quickly and was delicious and a reasonable price.
There is a good sized car park on site, and everything is on one level so perfect for disabled persons.
All in all a fabulous evening.
Highly recommended.

What a lovely place, took out friends for birthday lunch and couldn't have been better. Lovely ambience, friendly staff with a sense of humour who really put the icing on the cake. Was busy but managed to squeeze in the car park, and so happy with our meal. Have to mention the beautiful crumble with lashings of custard. Fantastic! Can't recommend enough will be back next time we visit Devizes.
