Market Hall - Ocean Studios Cafe

Great cafe for meet ups with friends, family, work related. Friendly staff. Checked out the Real Ideas Co-working space with a relative a while ago. Cost effective, easy to sign up, pay as you go basis to book time slots. Meeting rooms available if required. Good WiFi connectivity and a beautiful inspiring space steeped in history with a multitude of seating desk options (would recommend bringing a cushion for the harder seats). Felt comfortable in space to do some focused work on my job application 💪 and they utilize greener services for delivery!

We went to one of the Candlelight Concerts last Saturday (20th August 2023) at Market Hall in Devonport which was originally the Devonport Panier Market before WW2 and which had been closed down due to the government's sequestration of this area of Plymouth during the early 1950's when the cold war was in full swing. Real Ideas Organisation (RIO) eventually took Market Hall on for its regeneration around 2011 once this area had been returned to the local community and, I have to say on here that after visiting this venue for the first time last week with my wife what an absolutely brilliant job RIO have done with it. The hall is lovely. We walked in via the bar and cafè where it was clean and stylish. Natural light being made full use of via windows on all sides of this part of the building. The staff were pleasant, welcoming and very presentable and professional and we were shown into the Hall's 360° interactive dome cinema where our Candlelight concert was to take place. It was an intimate space for about 150 people and it was a total revelation to walk into as we had no idea that such a fantastic space was here in Devonport. There was even provision for wheelchair users and disabilities (as one should expect!!). The concert was given by the string quartet 'String Fusion' which was exquisitely beautiful and very well performed and delivered. (Vivaldi's Four Seasons) The concert lasted an hour without a break and the audience were even given Karl Jenkin's Concerto for Strings as an encour. If you live in Plymouth and haven't been down to Devonport Market Hall then I would advise you do so at the ealiest opportunity. Well done Rio and Devonport Market Hall. Had a preview tour of the building and immersive Dome. Fantastic addition to Devonport and Plymouth Excellent coffee and delicious food 😋 Another visit to see a film on the immersive Dome Yet another very different experience . Lovely emotive music beautifully arranged and performed by the Cornwall Quartet. Very interesting and atmospheric setting.

Amazing evening and experience.. A must do for all young or old..
