Fantastic pub since Shelley 🤣and Mick took the helm. The monday quiz is excellent, great fun and with a unique competition to win a cash prize at the end!

Shelley and Mick have completely transformed this pub. It's mine and my dogs favourite local now. Always a friendly face, good beer and dog treats on the bar. 👍

A proper local pub! A great landlord and landlady who have put a new lease of life into the pub with some well needed decorating! The pool table in a bonus but the customer service is 5/5!👍

Great dog friendly pub. Brilliant hosts Mick & shelley, complimentary food on bar too , who doesn't love a bit of bread & dripping in Barnsley 👍 lovely outside area with plenty of seating.

Friendly staff new owners Michael and Sheryl, dogs welcome - pool table and darts board inside. All I'd say is at some times it gets alittle tight for space but plenty of seating outside. Good variety of ale.

Walked past this place hundreds of times but never been before. Decided to call in at weekend again based on recommendations from friends. We were not disappointed - welcoming landlord / staff and a friendly “local” atmosphere meant we were not stared at for not being “local.” Stopped longer than planned as it was very friendly and relaxed. Will definitely call in again and it’s dog friendly too.

Had a wonderful visit last week to meet the new owners. Lovely surroundings, friendly, laid back atmosphere, good pint and owners who are not willing to be walked over by underage drinkers trying it on!

Great traditional pub !! Proper landlord and landlady who take pride in there pub and the beer they are serving !! Real ale spot on !! Been coming here on and off for years when I'm in the area , and never had a bad pint yet !! Also I've been in plenty of pubs, and this is the cleanest I've been in that says it all to me !! Proper pub👍

A good village pub with a well deserved reputation for serving a good pint of both in house and guest beers. Proudly appointed with the Cask Mark accolade. Also has a dog friendly bar, well kept beer garden and outside seating area.

Had a really good time at the Thornley. Fairly busy but not uncomfortable. Rarely go to pubs these days because of the cost etc. But this is one that I usually go to.

A traditional proper English pub very warm and welcoming terrific well kept real ales. No loud music or fruit machines. A real pub.

Just popped in as I was staying at a hotel nearby. Lovely local with friendly staff and customers. Beer was on top form.

Excellent cask beers always available. Traditional style drinkers pub. No food, good unobtrusive piped music , dogs welcome. Terrestrial TV on for available key sporting events in tap room but NOT constantly switched on. Darts, Cribbage & Pool.

Great local pub. Hand pulled beers, welcoming owners/staff & a pool table. Love it.
