The Draughtsman is a fabulous little gem found on Doncaster station . A warm welcome and a fabulous selection of craft ales, delicious gins and other alcoholic beverages or a good cuppa if that’s your tipple. Friendly, attentive staff - just a really nice place to be! Personally I found the Elvis Juice ( grapefruit beer ) amazing!!
Cannot praise the Thompson crew enough. I’ve worked in frontline customer service for 26yrs and these guys not only tick every box you have to make more boxes to tick as they are that amazing at what they do.
The passion from taking the place on as a shell to what it is now and how they run the place is something to be admired.
To greet so many people they will only see once as if they have known them for years is proof of how they roll.
Lastly massive thanks as they support local breweries like ourselves at the imperial.
Sending massive beer love to ya all
Loved this little pub on the platform at Doncaster Station.
Great choice of beers and really nicely done out inside.
There's a few outdoor tables if you want to watch the trains passing.
Pork pies on the bar looked great too.
Definitely my favourite place in Doncaster for a pint.
Making only my second ever visit to Doncaster. Only previous visit was with Flat Eric for a football match. Madge with me this time. A short train ride from Sheffield. She spotted this small bar come café on Platform 3b so stopped for a quick half. A NZ Pale by Shiny brewery. A refreshing 3.9% beer. Lovely small interior. Sat outside on the platform. Two other real ales on sale.
I’m a big fan of the concept of pubs on railway platforms as a whole, but there are levels and this is at the top tier. Firstly, the range is on a different level. Cask from the likes of Thornbridge and Milestone on my visit, and included a varied Keg range from Dutch brewery Jopen that I haven’t seen anywhere else before, with a superb range in the fridge. The setting and ambience is fantastic, with the architecture and fittings being sympathetic to the golden age of train travel. Service was efficient, friendly and knowledgeable. And then there is the value, which in these times is different than it was a few years ago… but it felt like being in a fabulous timewarp with cask prices basically unchanged, and keg prices considering the ABV and rarity very reasonable indeed. If you are passing through Donny station - and even if you’re not - it’s worth booking a ticket that delays you for a good 90 minutes at the very least (and they do take out in cans and plastic milk bottles if you haven’t got time). I can’t speak highly enough of them.
Lovely proper pub right on the platform! Fantastic service and they have local craft beers from Yorkshire and the north on tap! Highly recommend if you're waiting for a train or even just in town! Takeaway cans and bottles for trains too!
Lovely micropub with plenty of cask, draft, can and bottled beers to choose from. Sit back and relax outside on the platform and watch the trains and people rush by. Excellent.
Friendly staff and good prices. Good range of Bar snacks available.
Excellently and sympathetically restored interior of the old station buffet, which before these guys was relegated to a dilapidated store room after the buffet was shut by British Rail in the early 1990's or there abouts.
Will certainly be back.
*hopefully those screens on the bar are taken down soon as you have to go to the side of them anyway to get the beer or speak properly to the bartender :)
Great little pub listed in the 2023 Good Beer Guide, handily placed on Doncaster train station. Good for commuters looking for a break and a pint. You don't need to buy a train a ticket from the town side to get to it. Drink in or takeaway tins available.
Great little pub on the station. Called twice whilst waiting for the train. Great ales and reasonable prices. Great conversations to be had.
Great guys and a lovely beer selection to choose from and to takeaway
Small but perfectly formed, The Draughtsman is a must-see on any trip to Doncaster.
The friendly and welcoming staff are happy to talk you through guest ales and make recommendations.
As well as an interesting, ever-changing selection of drinks, they have some classic bar snacks such as pork pies and sausage rolls.
Merchandise and related books are also on sale.
Look out for the social media posts to find out about upcoming events.
Very cool little pub on the platform. Ideal spot for a pint if changing trains. Good choice on cask. Lots of character. Highly recommend.
