Beautiful Sunday lunch, I quite liked the no booking, walk in service but I guess I would as we got a table for 4 immediately.
The roast beef was very generous and perfectly succulent. Roast potatoes were cooked to perfection and I chose cabbage and cauliflower cheese plus broccoli cheese 😮 there was also the biggest sliced carrots I’ve ever seen.
Loads of polite staff on hand to keep the tables clear.

Had a family meal here. The food was delicious, and the service was impeccable. I'm glad we chose here as the outside area was perfect for when we'd eaten our meal. The ambience outside was lovely & relaxed. The area outside is just right for the late summer months.
Absolutely fantastic food, I had the Pilgrim Pie (delicious) my husband had the Tyson Burger (equally delicious). Everything was fabulous bar one thing. The seats that accompany the tables on the right, as you enter the restaurant, are way too low for the table. I’m not short, I’m 5 6 but it was so uncomfortable to eat from such a low seat with the height of the table. I really wanted a booster cushion to reach the table. Chairs are great, table is great, they just don’t pair, size wise. Please try them to see what I mean. Apart from that, we will return to eat again.
Been a couple of times now and alway had great service and lovely food. Welcoming environment with quirky decor, spot something different every time we come in. Food has never failed to disappoint. Some menu items require pre orders so maybe check what you would like a few days ahead of your visit :)
Dined outside under a large canopy. Was lovely on a hot day. Ordered the pilgrim pie and the chicken and leek pie. We expected them to be good, they were excellent.
What can I say, we had the BEST Sunday lunch it was all homemade and tasted amazing, fabulous selection of gins and drinks, stunning decor and ambience, owner is SO friendly and he is so proud off his pub and rightly so. We shall definitely be back again.
I cannot praise The Mayflower or its staff highly enough. We turned up without a booking on a very busy bank holiday and were swiftly found and shown to a table, we must’ve been fortunate because it was the last available table such is the popularity of the place.
Chris, the owner looked after us from the moment we arrived, made space for the 2 push chairs we had and was so friendly and accommodating. He made some suggestions from an extensive menu (very hard to choose with so many options) and everybody in our party was raving about what they’d ordered. Despite how busy they were the food arrived in no time, the portions of ribs were an eye watering size and everything cooked to perfection, he even made us some Bao Buns that weren’t on the menu.
All in all, a truly excellent dining experience, the place is huge but was completely full of customers and yet the service and standards didn’t faulter at all. Thank you so much Chris and your team!
Would just like to say what a beautiful place the mayflower is,food is amazing with so much to choose from,I had the tyson burger. And the service is excellent. The owner Chris and his team are really friendly. We would highly recommend a trip to the mayflower. And all the best for the future. We will be returning for definite. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Lovely warm welcome
Nice eating area outside. Staff were attentive and helpful as all three of us had arm and back injuries. Food was fantastic and well presented. Definitely will be returning.
We had a fabulous meal last night, we all chose from the specials board there was lots of choice, in fact too much I changed my mind about 4 times lol. The food was delicious and the service was fantastic too. I would highly recommend the Mayflower and Chris was very entertaining and so welcoming. We will definitely be back very soon and wish you every success!
