We'll start with the negatives... a couple in our party thought the rice was a little crunchy and said they'd had better elsewhere... I thought it was perfectly acceptable personally speaking.
We'd eaten numerous times at another asian restaurant in Armthorpe and although the food was always nice I resent those all too frequent occasions when I've had to wait 40 minutes past my booking time to get a table....no such problems with Shimla.
Seated within a minute of arrival even though the restaurant was busy....great start. The service was attentive, yet not intrusive and you never felt that you were being hurried towards the exit to make way for the next booking.
Pickle tray to start.... lovely... but what is the gorgeous deep red sauce called? My party loved that particularly.
Starters were excellent - I always judge a restaurant by it's sheek kebab... this was very nice and didn't disappoint.
The mains were Great, flavoursome and to my mind the perfect size. My top tip? Try the garlic chilli chicken... to die for!
So there's no alcohol licence but you can bring your own... the soft drinks are reasonably priced and it won't kill you not to have a belly full of ale once in a while.
9/10.... We'll be back!
I have eaten here for ten years, firstly when it was just a takeaway, through to the small restaurant, through to the extended place it is today. It is, without exception (in my opinion), the best Indian food I have had the pleasure to eat. The fact it is on my door step is a bonus. Add the quality of food to the quality of service and this can not have enough stars added to their "A" grade. a*************** Sheb and his team are amazing. Thank you so much for your commitment and dedication.
This was my first visit here after enjoying many delicious takeouts.
The food was amazing as always the onion Bhaji's are the best I have ever had.
For main I had Chicken rogan josh again beautifully presented & tasted wonderful. Here you take your own alcohol as they don't have a drinks licence. I can highly recommend here & will definately be going back xx

Best meal we've had in ages
I go every two or three weeks. This place is fantastic. I tell all my friends about it. Good food good pricing and nice staff and atmosphere.
Absolutely amazing restaurant I have been eating from here over 10 years both in the restaurant and takeout for family parties. The service and quality has always been of the highest standard. Every meal has its own unique flavour with the portion size excellent(always a little leftover for the next day 😁). My family and I especially enjoy the banquet nights which are excellent value for money and allow us to try new dishes. Keep up the amazing food and service you provide.
Had a good night food was good and the service was was second to none. Price of the meal was fare and didn't have to wait ages between courses. We left the restaurant's friendly atmosphere with full a belly and a smile on our face. Thanks guys see you again soon.
Always a great evening, love the booths, private and intimate especially for a or romantic evening! lovely fresh cooked food and bring your own alcohol adds to the experience as You can have your favourite tipple and keep your costs reasonable and therefore visit twice as often😉😋👌
Arrived early doors for a Birthday meal for my wife.
Very attentive staff, great surroundings and quick service. That menu is toooooo good. We will have keep coming back to sample many others we like. Had to 'waddle' home nicely full, as always. Thank you Shimla team.
First visit and won't be our last, nice atmosphere and lovely food. Friendly staff. Well worth a visit.
Excellent food. We ordered different dishes and loved that they clearly weren't made from the same base with minor changes (as can happen with other takeaways). Tasty, flavourful and good portions. Best Indian I've eaten outside India!
