Very nice somthing for everybody
I Love love LOVE this restaurant it is now one of mine and my boyfriends favorite place to go for food and a good time. For years I heard how good Cactus Jacks was but I never took any notice until i went for a work frinds leaving dinner and I knew my bf would love it. It is a cowboy themed restaurant with ah-mazing food and really good service we always tip generously.
This is my top choice over frankie and Bennies, Relish, Nandos and all other donny restaurants
I'm a native Texan who frequently visits Doncaster to visit my husband's family (he's from Donny). And, if I can give Cactus Jack's 4 out of 5 stars, that's pretty darn good!
We have been here a few times over the years and have always been impressed with the food. Here, in Texas, we're used to a certain type of 'Texas-down-home-cookin' and Cactus Jack's gets as close to it as I'd expect in the UK. The ribs and chicken dishes are very good (better than some of the places here in Houston). The service is good, and that's saying a lot from us overly demanding Americans. The portion sizes are generous by UK standards.
The part I love the best is the interior design. The restaurant isn't just Southwest themed, it's like walking into an old saloon. There is a old school jail cell in the back you can have dinner in. There's tons of gnarly wood everywhere. One time when we were in there, there was a whole troop of older people dressed in Western wear. It was awesome. I did have to correct them once because they had the Texas flag hanging upside down, but I can forgive them on it (people in the USA in other states would get it wrong too). They did fix it and I was satisfied.
The only totally weird thing is the waffle dessert. In the USA, waffles are not dessert items, we eat them for breakfast. They do not taste sugary or have little lumps of sugar inside of them. We don't top them with ice cream and chocolate sauce. But honestly, the waffle dessert at Cactus Jack's is so good, maybe we should!
If you live in the Donny area and haven't been... Go! Try it out! This is a recommendation from a real Texan who has a cactus somewhere in the vicinity (Houston is actually kinda like a jungle).
Cactus Jacks in Worksop closed :(
So we have been to the one in Doncaster a few times. Not as good as the Worksop one used to be, but good all the same. Nice cold jugs of John Smiths :)
Only had a small snack but it was amazing. Clean and nice vibe. Staff was lovely and polite!! Absolutely cannot wait till I'm back here again!
18 of us booked for a birthday lunch. The staff were very helpful when taking the booking over the phone and we arranged to do a pre-order a couple of days before the event.
On the day, the food was ready to be served as soon as everyone was seated and the order was correct. All the food was piping hot and everyone said how much they enjoyed it.
We ordered from the lunchtime menu which had a good selection and was good value for the portion sizes.
The staff were very polite and attentive. Will definitely go back.
Good size portions! Ribs are good and the chicken wings on the ribs and wings combo are next level beaut!! Service a bit slow but not too bad. Won't stop me going again!
Decent place and good food. Little pricey for what you get but worth a try.
The customer service here is amazing. They are very polite and welcoming. Atmosphere is lovely inside too, however some foods weren’t available such as the T-Bone Steak and the share garlic bread side. My food wasn’t the best however my partner thoroughly enjoyed his meal. They do offer dessert but not much of a selection. Will definitely be returning to see what else they have to offer.
Lovely restaurant, great theme! Old school cowboy westerns on TV, as well as pictures from famous westerns adorning the walls. The food was really tasty. Had the Cactus Jack Famous BBQ ribs (why wouldn't you), and they were delightful, washed down with a refreshing IPA. The service was also fantastic. We went on A Friday night, 7:30 booking, and it was surprisingly quiet, only one other table was occupied. I don't know whether that is the norm in Doncaster.
Very lovely tasty food (really big portions too) and a good atmosphere inside. The staff nice and polite but not attentive much, you literally need to get up and go to the counter if you want to order something else as they will just keep on going past without looking or standing near the bar, so that should be improved. Other than that a very nice place for a meal, definitely recommend.
(note the picture of main course is missing a few prawns as they were eaten before i took a pic!)
starters we had chicken. this is the reason for 4 not 5 stars, they were nice but at same time could tell they were just mediocre frozen ones the mains came with jack Daniels sauce and was very nice, a little pricey for 10 once compared to others local, but it was very nice too so still worth the money. the pints of coke came in frozen glasses which made a nice change.
would go again staff very nice and polite
So fancied a Mexican and was in Scunthorpe but none showed up on Google maps. Had a hotel booked in Leeds but wasn't getting there to late so searched for ones on route and up popped Cactus Jack. Wow such nice food. I had stuffed jalapenos which were actually hot and spicy unlike most Mexicans I've been to and my enchiladas were amazing...I had one chilli con carne and one spicy chicken, both were very nice and my work mate had the ribs which he said were lush. Thought I'd try a cocktail and went for the long Island iced tea, was very surprised that it was good as most places do not make them right bit this one was very nice and I ended up having another 😁 clean restaurant and very nice staff so over all a good meal and experience and will come back again 👍🏻
Greeting and seating was average.
Waited longer than expected to be served for a drink and the venue was quiet.
Drinks were well presented in frosted ice cold tankers
Waited again a further 10 minutes too take our food order.
Meals arrived in a timely manner and well presented.
Both meals were very nice! Mexican beef burger, fries and great salad. Pulled pork bare burger wedges and salad.
All in all would go again!
