Had an amazing lunch today, and it was absolutely incredible. The sticky chicken is one you can’t miss with a starter side of halloumi fries, with the perfect fish and chips and mushy peas.
Jades service was amazing and compliments to the chefs for producing such quality food. Can’t wait for lunch tomorrow 🦉😉

Wonderful location next to a canal , with seating in the courtyard, as well as inside the Inn.
Dog friendly seating inside is available , but would recommend booking in advance for Sunday lunch ( as it’s gets very busy ).
Toilets are upstairs ( did not see any disabled toilets downstairs, but this does not mean they are not available ).
Bar staff are very friendly and helpful ( Great asset to any business ). Thank you to Jade ( our server ), and her super colleagues behind the bar .
Ordered a Sunday lunch ( Sunday Trio & Sirloin of beef ) . Booking on Sunday is advantageous as inside the Inn was full , fortunately we had a parasol as it decided to rain during our lunch .
Food was presented well and looked good value for money .
Only point I must raise is :
Roast New Potatoes ( Hard and dry )
Beef ( was a tad dry and hard )
They were the only points I could raise .
Overall , beautiful location , idyllic in the summer or a cosy winter dining location.

Great to be back to the pub we love...........but I've got to say its not at the standard before the floods.....our food order was taken by our waitress and was told there would be a 40 min wait ( pre booked table) after 20 mins another waitress approached us to say our order had not gone through to the kitchen so we had to re order.....the food eventually came and was very good, but on leaving the restaurant we heard the same excuses being given to customers that their orders had not reached the kitchen.......maybe glitches since reopening but just be honest with your customers rather than make lame excuses......it really wasn't a problem but its how you handled the situation that was at concern.

We have have been lucky to be served by Tracy, twice now, and she is a real star. Genuinely friendly, welcoming and passionate about ensuring we enjoy our time at The Boat Inn. Thank you Tracy! 🧡

Beautiful meal. Excellent service by Adrian. I had the brisket sandwich and it melted in the mouth and the gravy was what I call proper beef gravy. Husband had pork and said it was so succulent and my little boy gave rave reviews and said it was the best meal he's ever had. Small issue rectified straight away and needs catered for. Faultless. Can't wait to return. The staff work so hard and it's appreciated. Adrian chatted with my son who is autistic and made him feel like a VIP. He loves the attention! My only minor criticism was when booking we'd requested to be as far away from dogs as possible as my son is petrified. The lady seating us sat us in the section next to the bar. We didn't have any issue initially but later a large group came and sat at a table only a few metres from us and their dogs barked. I don't mind this.. its a dog friendly venue but it upset my son who then covered his head and ears and we had to work hard to keep him calm and regulated. Would have preferred being able to sit way over the other end of the pub away from it but appreciate when places are busy this isn't always possible. It's a lovely setting and compliments to the chef for a lovely meal. 👍Thanks Adrian for your service.

The food was okay but could have been better, service was fairly good, it was quite busy so understandable that staff were under pressure.
1 out of the 2 starters were incorrect, and burnt so was sent back.
Mains were warm but not piping hot. Would have scored higher if the mains were piping hot and if correct starters were brought out instead of sending back and having to wait.
Probably would return but not in a hurry.

Great pub to stop off after a nice relaxing walk. Large outside area with plenty of seating and doggo friendly. Nice location in summer! We had a portion of calamari which was enjoyable.

Good choice of dishes on the menu. I had kebab and my husband had a signature burger. Both very tasty and very filling. Service was good and Adrian was friendly and helpful. We hadn't been to The Boat Inn for a while but would certainly recommend and will be back soon.

We visited on Easter Sunday and although very busy the staff were very accommodating, and the manager Adrian was kind enough to let me sit with my family even though I hadn’t booked (it was a last minute decision to join them).
Excellent service, delicious food, and a lovely pub in beautiful surroundings next to the river.

Really lovely relaxing lunch with my two dogs and very well looked after by Adrian. Great menu choices and wine list. Perfect for a long dog walk along the river. Will definitely be back.

Had a Sunday dinner x 4, and the food was absolutely "out of this world"! Probably the best we've ever had, anywhere! Not the cheapest, but simply stunning, looking forward to next time already 👌👍(We were served by Adrian)

Highly recommend this delightful, friendly pub just off the A1 who offer free motorhome parking, delicious vegan food, very dog friendly and well run by a great welcoming team by a beautiful canal with lovely dog walks in the nearby nature reserve. Very friendly locals, very heart warming thank you

Came here with family to celebrate my 40th in the sun. Always liked coming here for a pint since finding it last year as such a lovely setting. Although eaten here before and no complaints then, reluctantly came here after our first choice pub was closed last night. Having read the reviews I fully expected poor, slow service and mediocre food. The first mistake came when our mains were brought to the table before we’d even had our starters! The starters followed seconds later so can only imagine the entire order had been made at the same time. Then two starters came out with a 10 minutes gap before the others came out, then my dish broke in half! The food tasted nice but overpriced for what we ordered. There was then a very long wait before mains came out, shortly before they did we were assured by a waitress that the steak which had come out before the starters had been thrown away and so we were to expect a delay as it was being cooked from fresh. When the mains eventually did come out the wagyu burgers looked as though they had been waiting under a hot plate for half an hour as did the relishes. No complaints about the taste of the food but overall a very poor experience - and sadly as expected. The only reason I’ve scored it 3 stars is that we were in the sun and not in any rush. I wouldn’t rush back here for food but shall keep returning for a pint in the sun.

Kid free, great! Let’s get out for an evening meal for two at the Boat Inn(heard great reviews)
7 o’clock Saturday night.
Wife ordered the Steak pie, only to be told - sorry we have no pastry so it will have a mash topping.
Ok no worries we will go with that.
Food arrived, dumped on the table. Got the distinct impression even the waiter was ashamed!
To be fair-the Waygu burger was good, great chips and onion rings.
The steak pie arrived, didn’t look as bad when it was covered in the accompanying gravy.
Carrots un prepared and boiled to mush and
what can only be described as a mash potato “puck” couldn’t be pierced with a fork as it bounced back out, elastic mash.
Nobody returned and asked if everything was ok with the food.
We sat got another drink from the bar, drank them.
The waitress finally arrived and asked “you finished”
Not even questioning why the beef pie and mash wasn’t touched.
I had to point out sorry my wife never got started.
The pie was ok for 2 mouthfuls until she hit the gristle and the mash and veggies well, the least said the better.
We were eventually offered a half price dish.
£35 for 3 drinks and a burger.
Not great to say the least and won’t be returning.

Came yesterday evening for a meal with friends and we were all so disappointed with the food, service and surroundings. Two of us ordered our meal along with a Gin and Tonic to be told we had to have it in a regular glass and there was no fresh fruit for them. There were dirty glasses all along the bar that needed washing. We then told the waiter to wait to close our order as more people were coming to order from our table. We went back to the table to let the others go and order and within 5 minutes the first two meals came the others hadn’t even got to the bar to order yet. Me and my friend that had the roast beef dinner were so disappointed as the beef was so fatty my friend didn’t even touch her beef cause it was that tough. On ordering my second drink I got it again in a standard glass which had coke stains round the top, when the waiter came to collect our plates after an hour he just took them away not even asking how our meals were not giving us chance to tell him what we thought. The outside area seemed quite scruffy and not looked after which is such a shame as we loved coming here. Really disappointed meal out with friends.

Can't beat having raw chicken and raw Gammon on your plate to then be told it was probed before it came out and was at temperature.
Biggest load of crap I have ever heard and was clearly raw so never Got to temperature at all

I took my Mum here for lunch yesterday and it was lovely. The staff were really friendly and efficient, we were served by Kat and Natalie. Our meal was beautiful, I can recomend the lamb 2 ways. The bar staff were lovely and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. We will be back soon.

Lovely place but on multiple occasions they haven’t had everything available on the menu, also food takes a while to come! I haven’t been in months for these reasons!

A small group of my friends visited for the second time and enjoyed our meals. The staff were very obliging ,the meal was well presented and the visit was thoroughly enjoyable.

Ate here at lunch today. Had 2 rounds of drinks, the first one we were charged almost £2 more than the 2nd. When we told bar staff they just ignored us. The meal came almost an hour after ordering. It was cold, and tasteless and rock hard. 2 of the dishes said they came with salad which was about a teaspoon size. Will not be returning. So disappointed as it's such a lovely place..

Lovely food in relaxed dog friendly courtyard but was sadly disappointed on this occasion . Such a shame that on this occasion there were some long delays between courses being served and slowness to remove empty glasses, plates etc puddings arrived with no cutlery. Didn't appear under staffed Perhaps there was something else distracting staff, although all were pleasant and welcoming. It may be a while before we return !!

I visited the other weekend with my partner who has never been there before. I wanted to show her the beautiful setting and nice atmosphere on a very hot day.
We only stayed for 25mins and one drink.
Upon arriving home from work yesterday I've found that those drinks have cost me £85 as I've been fined for parking!!!
I was aware of a sign saying that it's private land and parking is for customers only, which we were.
I was hoping to return for some food with my partner this coming weekend but the experience has put me off in all honesty. How do I prove I was a customer or is there something i missed? The car park was almost overflowing as it was such a nice day 😣

Beautiful pub ,food was quick and lovely, pudding was to die for 😀Young lady that served us was lovely.

Evening meal on a Sunday night not a brilliant idea at the Boat Inn. Loads of stuff no longer available - including roasts and cheeseboard plus other foods too. Also service very poor despite the place being almost empty. Staff seemed more intent on cleaning up rather than being attentive to customers waiting to be served. Not a great experience!
Dawn Ubermanowicz
We have been coming here on and off for a long time as we live local but was disappointed to find they have put parking meters on the car park which some how takes the shine off the place. They said it’s because boat parties park there but we have never been and not been able to park. The food and service varies depending on whose working but generally average for a tea. Just gutted that a local beauty spot has to charge.

Boat Inn Sprotborough. Four of us went to the Boat Inn on Wednesday. We arrived about 4.50 got a drink and found a table.I had looked on the web site and saw they had a set menu 3 course for £10 so I went to the bar to ask about it.I was told they stopped serving it at 5pm.It was 3 mins past and we had been in before 5pm.So we ordered from the main menu.I ordered slow cooked belly pork. When it arrived it was about 2" square with a slice of black pudding and some braised red cabbage. The pork was dry and stringy and the black pudding tasted dry and powdery. The red cabbage was sickly sweet. The only good thing about this meal was the presentation. My son had sausage and mash.It was served in a soup bowl and I have seen larger portions served at school,It was daylight robbery at £9.95.My meal was £11.95 and was certainly not worth it..I don't mind paying for food if I enjoy it.To be fair my husband had a good portion of Hunters chicken and my daughter-in-law had a good portion of Jamacian stew although it was so hot she couldn't eat it and as a vegetarian she had little choice,The whole place was grubby and the toilets were not clean. It was very disappointing .
