Had fantastic Father’s Day meal with my family would highly recommend. It’s a little gem 5 Stars ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I took my Mum here for lunch yesterday and it was lovely. The staff were really friendly and efficient, we were served by Kat and Natalie. Our meal was beautiful, I can recomend the lamb 2 ways. The bar staff were lovely and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. We will be back soon.
Had an amazing lunch today, and it was absolutely incredible. The sticky chicken is one you can’t miss with a starter side of halloumi fries, with the perfect fish and chips and mushy peas.
Jades service was amazing and compliments to the chefs for producing such quality food. Can’t wait for lunch tomorrow 🦉😉
Wonderful location next to a canal , with seating in the courtyard, as well as inside the Inn.
Dog friendly seating inside is available , but would recommend booking in advance for Sunday lunch ( as it’s gets very busy ).
Toilets are upstairs ( did not see any disabled toilets downstairs, but this does not mean they are not available ).
Bar staff are very friendly and helpful ( Great asset to any business ). Thank you to Jade ( our server ), and her super colleagues behind the bar .
Ordered a Sunday lunch ( Sunday Trio & Sirloin of beef ) . Booking on Sunday is advantageous as inside the Inn was full , fortunately we had a parasol as it decided to rain during our lunch .
Food was presented well and looked good value for money .
Only point I must raise is :
Roast New Potatoes ( Hard and dry )
Beef ( was a tad dry and hard )
They were the only points I could raise .
Overall , beautiful location , idyllic in the summer or a cosy winter dining location.
Nice location and pub. Service was good but food only ok/good.
The fish finger sandwich was disappointing, the fish goujons were more batter than fish; and not much of them in the sandwich. Two burgers were enjoyed though. Plates came out hot but food luke warm which would suggest on hot plates for a while but was very busy.
Would still go again as pub location and service good, but try something different.
Highly recommend this delightful, friendly pub just off the A1 who offer free motorhome parking, delicious vegan food, very dog friendly and well run by a great welcoming team by a beautiful canal with lovely dog walks in the nearby nature reserve. Very friendly locals, very heart warming thank you
Lovely food and nice chilled atmosphere. Came for Sunday lunch and would come again! Portion sizes are great so I had space to have starter, main and dessert! Our server was Hollie. Highly recommend.
Can only give 4 stars for the boat. The atmosphere wasn’t brilliant think we were sat in the doggie bit with barking dogs. Service was a little slow the waitress was rushed. Gave us our bill and said sorry the next people are here who have this table booked. We had to move into the courtyard for coffee. Won’t be rushing back
Nice venue in an interesting area. Good food and pleasant staff. We were made to feel welcome and were able to stay overnight in our motorhome.
A pleasant meal, we had the two course special, soup and steak fries, also mushrooms starter and gammon with eggs n chips, the mushroom was very tasty. The staff did a great job, also bring a cardy its cool inside.
A lovely place in a lovely setting which we visit often for a couple of drinks and always find the staff welcoming. The place is quaint and has a great outside area but at this time of the year, the multiple real fires inside are perfect!
This time, we went for food and tried the festive menu. We had King Scallop & Prawn together with Oven-baked mushrooms for starter and Forestiere Chicken and Slow-cooked Pork Belly for the main and everything was cooked to perfection. The flavours were just stunning!
We were happy to go with a staff recommendation for a bottle of Malbec to go with the meal which was perfect - thanks Alice.
We have paid a lot more for a lot less in other places and also not had as attentive service so thank you to the Boat and we would highly recommend a visit to anybody who hasn't been.
I will say wow what a friendly enjoyable place to eat , we'd been for a walk and popped in on the off chance and although they were busy we were greeted with a smile and helpfulness not always seen these days and the food was yummy 😋 😊 sadly we're not local but hopefully when in the area again we'll definitely be dining again.
Even the young lady who was having an interview when she went past our table said she hoped we'd enjoyed our meal
