One of the most delicious fish and chips i had! Definitely can recommend, the atmosphere is great as well...

We had an excellent meal. We sat in the bar with the dog. The food was excellent, the customer service was quick considering how busy the pub was and finally the ambience was thriving. We will definitely return.

Great location for walking near Box Hill. Friendly and efficient service, good number of tables, the food is consistently very good quality and reasonably priced. It's not a gastro pub and the menu is maybe a little short, but sometimes that's a good thing.

Delectable fish and chips in a very elegant pub. Batter was amazing and crispy. A popular stop for walkers. Both indoor and outdoor seating is available. Attentive servers.
Only slight let down was the tiramisu - at £7.50, I would have expected better presentation and tastes, but was very average.

We went after a Sunday hike for roast. The place was buzzing with people and service was a bit slow but the food was worth the wait. Waiters are young and slightly unfamiliar with the food that is being offered, but polite and friendly. Worth visiting just make sure you book table in advance as we were lucky enough to be the last walk-in.

Lovely location and undoubtedly a charming pub worth walking to. Standard bought-in catering is of reasonable quality and has been treated well in the kitchen. Conveniently placed on a bus route.

Can't rate rooms as only had a meal. We rarely have Pork at home so I ordered pig's cheeks to start, which were delicious and melt in the mouth soft followed by a tasty, tender Black Forest pork chop and excellent triple cooked chips. The Haslenut Tiramisu was also yummy. Not the cheapest, but certainly worth the money. Will definitely return.

Great ambiance, especially in the summer where there is a nice terrace for a drink outside and a well decorated restaurant courtyard out back. The interior decor is really excellent.
Amazing steak and a good selection of Gluten Free options which is initially why we chose it, but could do with another veggie option. Wine was very good too and chef accommodated an off menu desert option.
Staff were a bit green but friendly, try not to get a seat near the till / service station when it is quiet, as the key/screen tapping is incredibly loud and distracting when it is right behind you.

So many people had told us that this is the greatest pub for food and we have found out it certainly is.
Buzzy, friendly, beautiful old decor, incredible food and best service you could wish for. reasonable prices for amazing food and fantastic wine list all reasonably priced which includes some wonderful unusual wines
Best British pub we have visited to for a long time.
Not stayed in the rooms but would certainly try them for visiting guests.
Well done.

The Running Horses does a first class Sunday lunch which was perfect for our family get-together of eight people. We had to preorder and secure with a credit card. Communication for our booking was well managed by the staff. Starters were delicious, portion sizes were quite ‘delicate’ but flavours were great. Roasts were very generous in size with lovely large Yorkshire puddings. I had the veggie mushroom and butternut jalousie which came with a delicious sauce. It was outstanding. For those of us that had room, the puddings were divine, with a big shout out for the hazelnut tiramisu and the sticky toffee pudding.
