Review Buttercup Cafe - Doune

Here at Selkie we absolutely love this wee cafe in Doune village. Wonderful service, great simple eats and free WiFi. Sit inside or outside and perfect if you're at Doune Castle and need refreshments or something simple to eat.

We had a little stop over at this cafe on our way from Fort William to Edinburgh airport and the staff were lovely and friendly. We had coffees, pastries and a sandwich - all very good. The cafe was bright and airy had a peaceful and cosy atmosphere. Lots of locals seemed to be enjoying their breakfast there! Pancakes looked good! Next time hopefully!

I brought my family here for a wee lunch and we enjoyed it. We were welcomed by really friendly staff and we were put on a table in the backyard. The weather was fine and food came quick. I had a steak sandwich. Price was decent and it came quick. It had alot of caramelised onions. They had a distinctive flavour and they were unfortunately dominating the flavour. Overall this is a really good cafe with alot to offer for good prices.

Lovely trip to this splendid wee cafe today! Helpful staff, 2 delicious soups ans fresh tasty sandwich. Pretty decor with lovely neighbouring shops, Doune Chic. Both well worth a visit. Will definitely be back.

Busy and popular, deservedly so. Hard-working friendly staff all trying their best to give you a good experience, even under pressure. Not so many places manage to achieve this. We're going again tomorrow for breakfast.

Great hot chocolate, friendly staff and cosy atmosphere in a nice quaint little town.

Delicious wee cafe serving drinks, cakes, tray bakes and light lunches. We had 4 sandwich meals with chips, soft drinks and then cakes & hot drinks to takeaway costing £61 altogether. The food was amazing, fresh and packed full. Would highly recommend in current climate with all the social distancing and cleaning protocols observed. And can't forget all the staff who where lovely and attentive. Will be back. 😁👍

We had a lovely late lunch here. We enjoyed hot chocolate, the Greek plate, the Buttercup burger, and a variety of desserts. Quaint setting and attentive service.

What a LOVELY cafe with such lovely staff, and lovely food, I highly recommend the superfood salad! And lovely children’s choices! Family & dog friendly! I want to say a HUGE THANK YOU to the lovely waitress who served us today (Tuesday 25th lunchtime) for being so kind when our rescue dog panicked & sprinted off with a chair tied to him… thank you for being so kind & can you please thank the staff at the equally LOVELY florist, we were hoping to find them on Google to leave a 5 star review as they were so so kind and we demolished their plants. They insisted we didn’t pay anything & only cared about our dog. I’ve never known such kindness as I’ve found in Scotland! Thank you from Griffin 🐾 🐾 who is recovering from his shock.

Lovely drinks and food! It was a lot of noise from the road outside, but the inside looked nice and welcoming. Friendly staff.

Tried the hot chocolate with everything and don't regret it. Staff was very accommodating for such a large group showing up on short notice. The shops behind the cafe are worth checking out too.

Very cozy place to have a coffee or brunch. Quality homemade food, all very tasty.

We dropped in whilst our car was in the local garage being fixed. We ordered home made lentil soup with a round of freshly made tuna pepper and onion sandwiches.., absolutely delicious. Then we couldn't resist the home made cake display and wow what a treat, real home made baking , our cakes were divine. Definitely will make a point of coming back again. Highly recommend.

Had a fantastic breakfast in a lovely courtyard with the sun shining.Staff very friendly and great coffee too.All the food was freshly made and homemade cakes looked great too...can't recommend enough.

Stopped here for drinks and cakes on our cycling trip. The service was very good and the staff were very friendly and welcoming.

Busy on a sunny day but table procured quickly in courtyard and served promptly. Food didn't take long and was very nice.

Very disappointed in the service. As a coeliac I asked when I first went in if they would cater for gluten free and the waitress replied that they could do almost everything on the menu. I asked for the eggs Benedict and when they first came out the were on a regular muffin, I was then informed that the hollandaise sauce was not gluten free and I could be offered ‘eggs on toast’ as an alternative. I then ordered a toastie instead which I had to eat after my dad had already had his lunch. We were not offered an apology. I am very disappointed in the lack of care for gluten free customers as if I had ate that I would have been very ill. We will not be returning.

Had a lovely belated Father's Day lunch today at the Buttercup cafe. Food was delicious as always, staff were fab and service excellent. The waitress over heard us discussing who was going to get the extra Malteser when we were sharing a cake and quietly went off to get us spares! It's the extra bits that make a difference sometimes. Would highly recommend.

Stopped off for a cup of tea yesterday as we were waiting for a bus, it's such a lovely place and the staff were lovely.

Geheim Tip � seeeeehr lecker sehr freundlich � Haus gemachter Kuchen und Torten, auch die Burger am Tisch nebenan sahen sehr lecker aus � Also... Wenn ihr mal zufällig in Schottland seid müsst ihr unbedingt hier Kaffee trinken gehen!

This bustling little cafe in Doune is one of my favourites. The staff are all lovely, the food is fresh, well presented and there is lots of choice and regular specials. The cakes are amazing and it won't break the bank.

Go in for a small breakfast at 11.40 on a freezing icy Sunday morning and told "We're not doing breakfasts any more. Lunch only. No wonder Scottish tourism has such a bad name No comprises with a take it or leave it attitude. Wouldn't recommend

Lovely wee cafe, great menu & also has separate gluten free menu. V friendly & helpful staff. Service a bit slow but food was delicious. Wld defo go back.

This is my favourite cafe. The food is always fresh delicious & tasty. They do gluten free stuff without fuss. The staff are lovely. The menu is great. The special a few weeks ago was mushroom ristto.....it was the best I've ever had.....please do it again!

Lovely place and great staff. We had the Scottish breakfast. One of the best I've had. Set us up for a wander round the castle afterwards!

Popped in with our 3 boys yesterday and were very impressed. Our dairy allergic son says that the vegan chocolate cake was the best cake he has ever had! The selection of cakes was great and the friendly service fantastic. Will definitely come back that way again.
