Fabulous meal and very attentive staff. Nothing too much trouble for my friends who include a dairy intolerant and vegetarian. Highly recommend.

Stayed here for 2 nights to attend a local spa and we loved our stay. Great food, such good value and the waitress who served us was attentive engaging and even sang happy birthday to go the extra mile. Breakfast on the first morning was a little slow as it was busy, second morning was much better. Lots of options for breakfast and not limited. Rooms are comfortable, yes the bathroom is a little dated, but they think of the smaller details. Bags for vanity disposal, soaps and shower caps, the shower is actually really powerful, so we enjoyed that! Room has modern TV, we had a nice view from the first floor. The floorboards are creaky and I was conscious of this on the lower floors not to disturb as you can hear alot of what's going on in the adjoining rooms. But beds are super comfy and we had a great night sleep. Amenities of kettle and biscuits were a nice touch and ample storage space within the wardrobe. I would stay again as reasonable price and service was lovely, especially when we wanted extra tea bags for room. It was so handy to roll out of our room and into the bar/restaurant.

We went for the Sunday Food. Strongly recommend. 4 people, 2 had the Sunday Roast with beef. Excellent. The XL size had a good amount of meat, nice little tray of veg, 2 Yorkshire puddings, few roasties and some mash. 2 party members had something off the special menu. They were very complimentary as well. Good service from the kitchen. Deserts were good, I do recommend the pudding skewers, probably should have between 2 though I had it on my own. The only minor negative is the bar service, the team almost felt like they didn't want to serve you, trying to avoid eye contact, perfectly pleasant when serving just needed to have someone entirely focused on that job. Still if you want a nice meal, book ahead and give it a go. Good price, good food, good pint.

Stayed as part of a work conference. Excellent staff very welcoming and friendly. Food very good too. I was a little disappointed with my room even though it was clean someone had quite recently been smoking in the room and the smell sadly lingered on my bedding. The road out front was quite busy so not the greatest if you're alight sleeper, aside from that all good.

A nice pub and hotel tucked away in a rural setting between Uttoxeter and Burton. Its a quiet place on the main through road with a nice pub restaurant feel to it, coupled with motel style facilities. We had a double room which had a comfy bed, good shower and lots of storage space. WiFi was good and there was a TV with lots of options. The bathroom looked a little dated but the room had a cosy modern feel. The restaurant and bar area was spacious, busy and had a nice feel to it. The decor was a mix of old traditional pub and modern vibrant contemporary mixed together. Sadly we were tucked around a corner with no real view of the rest of the bar area and I think this reflected in the service sadly. Ourselves and a neighbouring table seemed a little neglected. Twice I had to go to the bar to order. Nobody came to check on us, ask if we wanted more drinks or clear our plates. The staff were friendly and attentive otherwise and the food was excellent. The breakfast was also very nice and cooked to order. Sadly service was a little slow as there was only one waitress for about 7 tables. If the service was better it would be 5 stars for sure. We'd certainly still come back though.

I went for a meal at the boars head for my sisters birthday, the food was amazing, I had salmon which was cooked to perfection. Every part of the meal was delicious and the cheese board after was beautiful. Will definitely go again

Had a lovely 2 night stay here whilst we went to Alton towers, The service was amazing and staff were all really friendly. The food was fantastic and also came really quick Bed were very comfortable and the rooms were clean and fresh My only negative comments are the temperature for the showers varied depending what time you showered and in the evening we’re very hot and unable to make any cooler, but the water pressure was fine ! And also the walls were very think and you could hear people in the room next to you even turning on a light switch but this wasn’t a massive problem and everyone seemed very conscious of their neighbours. The main road next to the hotel is very loud unfortunately and in the summer when you have the windows open you do hear trucks going past constantly . I would still recommend staying here as the location is lovely and being on the main road does me quick access to Aloton Towers or the local town

Oh this place turned out to be very posh and very delicious. An ideal meeting place. I even had some pork scratchings. An alcohol free beer on draught (first I’ve seen) and I loved it here.

Comfortable room including great bed and huge TV (for a hotel room). Really clean and nicely presented. Shower was very weak 😒 but again bathroom really clean and good facilities. Breakfast was really good and service was friendly and attentive ❤️ Loved my granola pot. Location isn't great if you're looking for access to running route - really busy road for a Mile before a turn off. No shops anywhere near except a petrol station. But if you have a car it would be great base👍
