Lovely, relaxing lunch today with friends looking out on to the garden. Attentive staff and owner who told us all about the hotel’s history.
(Breakfast menu looked nice too!)
I went for lunch today with two friends. Honestly its such a lovely place. We were in the conservatory and it was warm and cosy and had that " loungy" " home from home" feeling.
You don't get that in most of the other coffee places in Dronfield. Tables are usually crammed together with uncomfortable chairs.
These chairs are upholstered and really comfy...which is fantastic when you have a bad back!
The coffee is strong and how coffee should taste..and I am very picky!
It was lovely to look out of the window and see beautiful greenery and vibrant coloured flowers...even saw a squirrel.
Michael the owner is really friendly and listening to his stories about the history of The Chantry as we were leaving was captivating.
I would also feel comfortable going there with a book on my own.
I had a bacon, brie and cranberry panini...really tasty with a side salad and french dressing...
If you want an "experience" then I would go here. Its a much welcome change from modern, cold, minimalist places and has a charm that can only come from years and years of history. It's somewhere that ticks the box that no other place round here does.
We will be back soon!
Has lunch was really nice, reasonable, different. Service great surroundings lovely. Definitely come again and we will hook for Sunday in the special dining room. Thanks
Nice place and very nice staff. However no beers on tap and the price for a can was very expensive 😔
Had an amazing afternoon tea for my birthday. The table, chairs and surrounding area were dressed with banners, we had party hats and poppers.
The service was great and the staff were attentive. The food was excellent and I would highly recommend trying it for yourself.
Had a wake here, it was exceptional, couldn't fault the service and the room. The only down side to this venue is the lack of disabled facilities. Both access to the premises and toilets need to be addressed. It may be an old building, but surely something can be done to avoid having to go in by the kitchen! As there are many steps and inclines to negotiate here. Sorry to say the owner passed away only a couple of days before our visit, but as they say in showbiz, the show must go on, and it did, thank you all for a splendid event.
Went for lunch with a friend and had the three course set menu and we both agreed it was excellent. I also go with friends regularly for coffee and something to eat. Everyone is lovely and welcoming. One of my favourite places.
Popped in for lunch. The meal was excellent. My husband has tempura shrimps for starter which he said were delicious. We both then had lasagne and my sister and brother-in-law had lamb shank. Desserts were wonderful. I had mini trio of desserts which were scrummy and the others had summer pudding again delicious. Staff very friendly and the outlook from the new conservatory was beautiful. We'll worth a visit.
Lovely vintage accommodation, plenty of space, modernised bathrooms. The only disadvantage was unaccessible heating control,so it was either too hot or quite cold at the time. Otherwise it was really nice, and we'll definitely come back once we have travels up north again 👍🏻
Recently re-opened after many years. My memories from the '90s were the same after sitting in the sun lounge for a few secs. Jackie sitting there welcoming the guests. Well worth a visit open from 9.30am - 4.30pm for b'fast lunch and afternoon tea. Recommended!
