This cafe is really good. There is a lot of room to relax with painted tables to sit at and also a wee lounge area and a child friendly space as well. I really like the coffee and would say its the best in town -always strong and hot. Today there was freshly baked banana loaf which was just the ticket for cheering up a wet Thursday. The staff are always friendly and relaxed and everyone is made to feel welcome. Def worth going to look at some of the designs on the doors in there too.
Soul Soup are a brilliant asset to the town and have done a great deal of work in a short space of time. There was nothing like this level of support for young folk when I was young, and they've also done wonders for my friends son who volunteers there, its helped his confidence immensely. Their wee cafe is just great too, yummy stuff!
I recently attended a training course, ‘Scotland’s mental health first aid: young people’. Myself and my colleague both found the course to be excellent. Lots of useful signposting, reading lists etc and delivered by an experienced and knowledgable practitioner. The charity’s building is impressive and has a large open café as well as several workshop spaces where various groups are held and smaller rooms for individual or family counselling. I would certainly recommend the course for anyone working with young people and will definitely be popping into their café when I’m in Dumfries now I know it’s there.
Seems like the person to post a review, the one recommending a minus review score (probably a troll with a 'Keyboard Warrior' sticker and a panchant for 'Fake News' websites) hasn't actually been anywhere near Soul Soup as the services given are second to none - and I'm not only talking about the Café either.
I'd definitely recommend taking the defamatory review with the contempt it truly deserves, not only to put the troll back under its bridge, but to show that the work being done at SoulSoup and by its employees/volunteers/board is first class by any standard.
Maybe the reviewer needs a hug, or maybe how about you show us on the bear where you were hurt in the past?
Visited this place in the summer of 2019 as I had heard it does wonderful things for its community. The food was delicious and the staff were friendly. Loved hearing the stories behind some of the tables that are designed by some of the people who have used the charity part of this place. 5*!
