Tonic

Came here with a friend for a catch up meal. A lovely establishment that doesn't deal damage to your ear drums when it comes to music. Staff are very nice and professional and the food (puled pork nachos) are something else although I do work make sure you either have it on an empty stomach or with water. Cocktails are nicely made... Still can never understand the two straw thingy. No matter haha

It's quite rare that I give a burger place five stars but Tonic definitely deserves it. As a vegetarian I often resign myself to a slab of rubbery halloumi or a lukewarm Portobello mushroom thrown into a tired bun and all for the price of three or four pints. How refreshing to find somewhere that actually makes an effort! My partner is not vegetarian but opted for the halloumi. Unlike the experience described above, at Tonic the halloumi was battered and crispy on the outside and thought had been given to the condiments that accompanied it. I tried the vegan mac and cheese burger which was also very tasty. The burger buns were also notably good - light and chewy and held the filling - they didn't disintegrate into a soggy mess after a couple of minutes. There was a nice range of beers to have with our burgers. Also seemed like a nice atmosphere just for a drink. Would happily come back here.
