Excellent place for lunch, nice and modern. Shop and restaurant/cafe is lovely.
Lovely staff with smiles all around. Very busy during mine time of visit (12pm) start of lunch. Lots of staff. Sat out in the conservatory area which is very nice, however sun is very hot when directly on you, and bees around the table area which is understandable.
Small menu to choice from. Food is very nice, small portions and little overpriced.
Would visit again for sure.
Excellent parking available on the barn.
Lovely place for an impromptu lunch ! Dog friendly with heated seating area undercover ! Food was delicious and freshly cooked, not a huge selection and quite pricey though. Area outside for children to play, plenty of parking and a shop too. Would visit again.
Stopped for breakfast. Food was good. I had french toast with bacon and maple syrup. Bit on the pricey side - it does have a captive market from the nearby campsites and holiday parks. Lots of seating inside, in a conservatory and outside too. Space outside for kids to play. Interesting shop attached with lots of great produce from chocolate and fudge to pizzas and gifts, books and even a Mersea Island stick of rock. Good sized parking area outside.
Last time I visited was during the pandemic, was great then & decided to take parents down there with their dog as listed 'dog friendly' & they sure are. Food was delicious as before & do recommend the Barn Breakfast with black pudding. Service was definitely polite & professional whilst friendly too. Definitely be back soon.
First off a big thank you to the barn. I called before my visit to ask if I could park a bus in there car park. As a coach/bus driver facilities are limited when on the road. I had a job local with nothing on site so headed to the barn for somewhere warm to sit and have a hot lunch. The staff are lovely and friendly and served a lovely breakfast. I felt famous when being asked for photos with the bus outside there beautiful building too. Many thanks and will call in again soon.
Tastefully presented cafe with shop, food is prompt and recommend going when the sun is out and sit outside.
You can book inside and in the glazed area (table service) with the marque first in, first served but you will have to order from the counter. Large sandpit area for the kiddies to have fun.
A great place to eat and a well stocked shop for browsing home produce etc.
The menu might be small but seems to have something for everybody. The food is cooked fresh and there is a daily specials board to make it varied.
The location has a reasonable sized carpark and is disabled/wheelchair friendly throughout
Definitely deserves a five star rating!
We went to Mersea Barns on Monday morning. It was a wintery morning , very cold and icy.
The restaurant was quite warm and we had Coffee . My Friend had a scone and I had a gluten- free Orange and Almong Cake that had just come out of the Oven.
It's rare to get much in the way of gluten-free Cake and this was exceptionally good and such a treat !
We had a nice browse round the shop that had quite a range of gifts.
It would have been nice if they had Christmas music playing but it was a very cold morning and it was probably rather challenging just getting the Restaurant warm!
Good spot for a big breakfast after the local Parkrun on Mersea Island. Quality meal but quite pricey. Entertaining adjoining shop with fun knickknacks and collectibles.
We recently visited during a quick visit to the island, plenty of parking on arrival. The shop is on the left as you go in and the other part is a restaurant / cafe. All seemed well stocked etc, and nice and tidy. Don't expect it to be cheap, as it's not - but you sort of expect that when you come to these places.
Will likely visit again if in area - especially as I noticed they do some activities for kids etc.
Recommended by friends as we drove to the beach. Popped in on way back. Tried the Thai Sea-bass - wow wrapped in a banana leaf - beautifully balanced ssoooo tasty ! The cakes were to die for so light and lastly the coffee - so well prepared so many places have no idea what a Cortado is let alone make it well ππΎππΎππΎππΎππΎ
Great options for seating also inside, conservatory and the Marquee plus grounds / sand pit-play area for the kids to run and play in.
Final shout out to the great staff and service bringing our food out in the pouring rain - above and beyond!!
This was the best food we found during our week on Mersea Island. We had a lovely breakfast and would visit again for other meals except it was our last day!
Absolutely well worth the visit! New barn build of a restaurant and village shop in East Mersea, it has plentiful car parking and large outside area for dining as well as plentiful seating inside.
Free WiFi is available whilst you sit, with a really comprehensive coffee and dri ls selection.
Food is amazing, the chips are some of the best around, crunchy and tasty. The BBQ Brioche bun is brilliant, loads of strong bbq flavours and a healthy helping of various slaws. The club sandwich also hits the mark, with some very good crispy smoked bacon. Scampi and chips was also good, tasty scampi with the same triple cooked chips. Couldn't fault a thing with the food and the service was friendly and efficient.
Already have requests to go back after one visit, can see this as a firm family favourite.
Visit it, you won't regret it.
Fantastic hidden gem, discovered this little place on the last day of our holiday, only disappointment was not discovering it earlier! Try it you will love it!
Great stop-over on the way back from Cudmore Country Park for coffee and cakes. Friendly service and shop offers good variety of English produce (i.e., apple juice). Love the atmosphere...π
Had a breakfast, shared it with my wife. More than enough for two of us. We're offered extra plate and cutlery without having to ask for it. Grandson used the mucky play area and had a great time. We arrived at 08:30 just as they opened and it was really quiet, busy by the time we last a couple of hours later. Recommended.
Nice setting and clean with attentive staff. Many dishes over priced.
Β£12 for Avarado on toast or a bland stuffed pepper. The liver and mash was very tasty though.
Would stop by for coffee and cake but not a meal
