Been here multiple times for their amazing set menu! Delicious, no nonsense food with french influences and desserts/home baking is fab too. Staff are lovely and the chef brought us out dessert, which was a nice touch.
Delicious food, great coffee, friendly staff, and very comfortable atmosphere. Well laid out with interesting artwork on the walls. Always a treat going there.
Without doubt one of the best places to eat out in leith. Amazing food and wonderful service. Just what leith deserves!
A little gem!. This is one of the best resteraunts in Leith, for quality, value and friendliness. The food is a lovley mix of french and scottish, eat here and you will not be dissapointed. Book to avoid disappointent as many Leithers are already in onto this gem.
Top food. I love this place. Only problem is since it opened I've stopped going anywhere else as it fills pretty much all my needs. Breakfast is amazing (breakfast roll with fried egg, sausage, bacon, mushrooms - SO GOOD, or crepes, or poached eggs...) Lunch menu is great but the daily specials are amazing. Lovely home baking and great coffee for a quick visit. Totally baby friendly and relaxing - my favourite place in Edinburgh.
An award winner for lots of reasons!. My day at this cafe was great. My toddler ran up and down the "ramp" played away with toys and read stories, filled her belly with homemade fish cake and a cupcake. Across the street is the water of Leith so we took a stroll until she fell asleep in her pushchair . I went straight back to the bistro to order a delicious coffee (with a cute homemade merangue on the side) put my feet up and read my book. These guys know how to deliver and they do so with charm, wit and style. A husband and wife team too which makes me even more willing to support them with my regular custom. Well done, the best dining experience i've had in Edinburgh!

Laid-back, gourmet food - loved it. Husband, toddler and I visited the Water of Leith a few weeks back.
The Bistro is large, airy, tastefully furnished and absolutely packed with an eclectic mix of happy diners.
We were really fortunate to bag the big sofa in the corner next to the toy box. Toddler and husband had a ball playing with all the (very good condition) toys and I enjoyed browsing the books and adding a few rows to the communal knitting (really!)
To the food! Husband had a delicious Croque Monsieur - he's been begging me to learn how to make it ever since but my attempts fall flat next to the Chef's. I had a huge plate of delicious wild mushroom risotto - one of the best risottos I've ever tasted. Toddler had a big plate of gorgeous, freshly made fish fingers.
The food was devine, the servings were large and the bill was surprisingly small.
We can't recommend this restaurant enough. It is an absolute gem!
This quaint green cafe on the corner of Coburg Street is a real hidden gem, if you haven’t already been here I urge you to do so next time you feel a little peckish or severely famished (anywhere in between is also acceptable). To start with the service in this cafe is impeccable, the owner (Ana) is so welcoming and provides a great sense of humour at no extra cost. Ana’s husband Mikael, the talented chef, is also incredibly friendly often bringing out meals to customers himself, this warm family atmosphere makes you feel right at home. The menu has a wide selection on offer with specials changing often to keep things fresh, you can probably tell I’ve been here on a number of occasions and whilst I am happy to experiment every once and a while I find it difficult not to fall back on the croque monsieur – this occasion was no different. On a trip to Paris sometime ago I tried a croque monsieur on home turf to see how it compared to the one served up in The Water of Leith Cafe Bistro . T
Warm, friendly, family atmosphere with lovely service and oh so tasty food! I can only strongly recommend you visit, eat and find out yourselves what a gem this place is. Oh, and it's incredibly reasonably priced too! #CantLose
We love this Cafe. Tucked away in North Leith, it's an easy walk from Ocean Terminal or from The Shore. The owners are lovely, down to earth, friendly and talented. We've had some great brunches here. Decor is bright and friendly. If you're a parent it's kid friendly with a bunch of toys for junior. This is a great place to meet friends for a coffee and a delicious cake. The home cooked food makes it a firm favorite in our Leith places to go. Def one to visit.
One of our favourite places to eat in Edinburgh, a lovely little bistro serving up great food. Service is relaxed and friendly, you'll always want to stay for that extra glass of wine.
It's worth visiting for the croque monsieur alone, it's certainly not to be missed and was far superior to the ones we tried on our holiday to Paris.
I shouldn't really say this ... because I risk not being able to turn up without booking ... but seriously, people with massive, gleaming cars & their own car number plates are beginning to pull up beside Water of Leith Bistro and saunter inside for a light lunch ...
Today, I swooned over a massive bowl of fresh mussels & pork belly with crackling with an apple sauce.
Top rated resto on TripAdvisor in Edinburgh for the "£ rating" and "££ rating." Service is uber friendly and if you go kinda oftenish, the owner will greet you by name.
It's the type of bistro you always dream of discovering or opening ... a tiny venue hidden off some godforsaken backstreet in the back of nowhere serving up lashing of sweet banter, food and ambiance.
This is a lovely little cafe. Very baby friendly too. Great for lunches - quick service and food that is delicious. The owner is very accommodating and friendly. The decor is very bright and warm.
This is a great cafe with fresh and fabulous food. The owner was really friendly and the choices on the daily specials board were varied, there was something there for everyone - decent vegetarian options too. Am going there for lunch today :)
Really nice place, excellent choice of food from lunches, through to cakes, very courteous friendly owner. Child friendly & Gluten Free products freshly baked!
Wonderful cafe with a great chef serving up lovely fresh combinations daily and a wife who is the perfect front of house person.
husband and wife team always serve up a treat and a smile. one of my favourites!
