Staying in the neighborhood, looking for a close by cafe, found a gem! Walked in 1/2 hour before opening and allowed to stay and dry off and have glasses
of wine. Great mushroom soup of the day as well as fried bass with sauce modification. Really enjoyed my timeshare chatting with locals and staff! Accessible bathrooms.

Brilliant wee restaurant. Friendly, warm atmosphere, and fabulous food. Been here a few times with family and it never disappoints. Thank you again!

Incredible. Easily some of the best food I’ve ever tasted, and the most splendid atmosphere to eat it in.
We stopped in for a cheeky wine in the afternoon and the owner, James, came right over and made us feel at home. So much so we had to come back later for dinner!
We took his recommendations on what to get and wished we could have more. The chef, Eddie, needs his own cookbook; the photos I’ve posted won’t do it justice. So much flavour, and care, and passion. You must go here if visiting Edinburgh!!
The other great thing is how much James makes every guest feel like family. Another table actually kept checking in with us as well because they wanted to make sure we loved the place as much as they did. So sweet!!

Great wee cafe and bistro. Very friendly staff made me very welcome when I had an hour and a half to kill at 5pm on a wet Thursday. Great homemade carrot cake and a pot of tea were happily provided. They're open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and all times between with the chef on duty until 8:30 pm but no hassle if you want to take your time and stay until 11pm.
Must return for dinner one night!

The best breakfast we've ever had, not kidding! Fabulous service, comfy, relaxed, what a place. No wonder Bijou has been going since 2006, folk must love it. I'd move to the area if I could, just to become a regular! Thank you to the fabulous staff, you made an ordinary day extraordinary!

Enjoyed my large bacon roll and hot cappuccino there today. Friendly staff ( and loved the 'pull the chain' cistern in the toilets!)

I often tell myself that I should visit Bijou more often. The cosy Bistro is far from me and I must traverse Granton, Leith, the Links, and Restalrig but the trek is worthwhile. Always worth it.
Bijou serves everything from plum desserts to chicken burgers. Bijou Bistro sounds French, but I'm not sure the menu is overwhelmingly Franco-centric.
Tip: Always check the specials board.
It's not a huge menu but are enough starters, mains, and tantalising desserts to talk about and pick something you like. Three or four course alternatives reassure me of good quality and minimum food waste. I'm confident you'll find something you like.
I've risked trying to fit my solo-eating self a table on the weekend, only to find that the Bistro is booked out, which is also a good omen. So, if possible, book.
The Bistro's popularity shows that locals like it. Even when packed, it feels inviting, like an oasis between neighbourhoods.
Bijou serves good meals without fuss, elitism, or drama and it's an easy venue for me to recommend.

Lovely place to pop into after some recreation on Leith Links. We were there between 10 and 12 so had an egg roll and a bacon roll. As the menu states, the rolls were huge. Also delicious coffee. And ever so friendly staff.

Went to Bijou Bistro during my stay in Leith and had to go back a few days later as I couldn’t stop thinking about the meal I had, it was that good! Wonderful staff - so friendly and helpful to me being new in town! Highly recommend 🙂

This used to be my regular breakfast place back in 2012-13 when I lived in the city and it was the best breakfast joint in all of Edinburgh. I came back today, 10 years later, as I was in Edinburgh for work. I don't know how it's physically possible, but the breakfast is even better than I remember. This is absolutely the best veggie breakfast in Scotland.

Delicious breakfast and very friendly staff!! We have been coming daily in our stay in Edinburg 🙃

Such a wonderful small bistro. The food is really excellent, great choice of wine and all reasonably priced for the quality. The staff are amazing and it's always warm and family. Breakfast and dinner are great and they are very dog friendly. Highly recommended

Great little bistro. Arrived at 12:30, got a table for 4 and a dog no problem. They offered us the last breakfasts if we wanted them. They brought them out with a whole bunch of extras for the table that would have gone to waste otherwise. The drinks were great, the staff were friendly, the place was clean and they were dog friendly. Excellent find and would highly recommend.

Lovely small bistro in Leith with daily specials. We were impressed by the food, staff, and kitchen. We were there on a Saturday night and there was only one person in the front and one person in the kitchen. I was very impressed at around!

Fabulous all round. Food lovely, coffee lovely, service and prices all great. Really impressed with this place and free parking by the park. Well done crew. Jonathan.

Bijou - A neighbourhood bistro. This cute little eatery looks just the ticket on a night that would suit the opening scene of Macbeth. As the wind propels me through the door I am more than ready for the very decent glass of Malbec that I immediately order.

An equally windswept BB arrives and we order our meal; everything listed comes in bijou medium or large portions which gives you control over how much you both eat and spend.

BB started with 'bijou' home-made fishcakes (£4.75) with roasted garlic and chive mayo and salad and I opted for bijou wild mushroom, shallot and gnocchi fricassee with parmesan crunch (£4.95). I can't see past mushroom gnocchi. The slippery little fungi complement the more resistant pasta pellets every time as long as it is cooked as perfectly as Bijou's. Peppery seasoning, spinach and the really cheesy parmesan crisp complete this not entirely bijou plate of food. BB was similarly pleased with her fish-laden cakes. Thumbs up!

For next course I had a medium portion of vegetable and gorgonzola tagliatelli with herb crumbs (£9.95); and a second glass of that Malbec please! The tagliatelli is just ok. The broccoli is cooked perfectly al dente but more cheese is needed with the pasta and there are way too many peas. BB has chosen pot- roasted pork stovies from the specials board (£9.95, medium). She thinks the dish lacks seasoning and depth of flavour; I agree but still consider it a good plate of food.

Desserts are a definite return to form. BB has a selection of homemade ice-creams in a brandy snap basket (£4.50). She chooses vanilla, chocolate and peanut butter scoops and raves about the latter. The creams have finesse; the flavours have been kept nicely balanced so as not to overpower and the texture is silken. The basket has a nice 'snap' and is lacy, buttery and flavoursome. I have a scoop of lemon curd ice cream along with a huge slab of chocolate cheesecake (£4.50); chocolate base and lovely dense gooey cheesy texture.

We have outdone ourselves and agree it is well worth seeking out this homely little bistro. The chef actually reached the second round of the Masterchef a few years back and it shows.

Bijou by name..... Bijou by size.....small and intimate. The food is good and affordable. Be warned though there are only possibly 6 tables and booking during the evening is a must.

Hiding in the open Bijou Bistro offers those in the Leith Links (and those willing to travel) a great wee spot to enjoy anything from a light bite to a mighty meal...

There is clearly a market for this understated approach, but it didn’t find favour with me. Perhaps we ordered poorly, but on the basis of our visit, today, I can’t see that I’ll be rushing back

Just around the corner from where I live is this lovely little bistro. I love to go there for a good old Sunday breakfast which is always delicious and full of flavour. The restaurant has such a cosy and relaxing feel to it that it is great for any occasion weather it be a catch up with some friends over a coffee or a romantic meal with the other half. They have seasonal menus too so there is always something different to choose from and you can tell that the chef obviously takes pride in his dishes as each one is plated to perfection and doesn't look like it has just been shoved on the plate like some places. If your ever in the leith links area give this place a try - you won't be disappointed.

Had a lovely meal here. Moules Marniere starter with fresh home made bread, belly of pork then chocolate fondant with ice cream, all utterly delicious. Great service and value too.
