My first visit and not my last, lovely welcome and the menu explained superbly. Went for the sharing platter and the quality of food was excellent as was the service.

intimate lighting really lends to the dining experience.  It’s spacious, yet atmospheric and always seems to be full, although you can usually get a table. The menu is vast and. packed with some of my favourite Spanish ingredients like Morcilla de Burgos,. Iberian pork and Valdeon cheese. When you have top ingredients, it’s best just

We had got ourselves a £25 voucher for Tapa in Leith so we went to check it out. Tapa is a cute place, it’s décor is perfect for tapas dining, understated but somehow with plenty of Spanish flair. We both loved the vibe of the restaurant. Early doors we were warned that the servings were bigger than traditional Spanish tapas and to make sure you factor this in before ordering. These were wise words and do heed them. It’s good as it encourages a decrease in food waste.

TAPA EDINBURGH 24/10/2015

Autumn is well and truly upon us and it was crisp night on Friday as Food Club dawned on the shore for some Tapas at the fantastic looking Tapa Restaurant down by the Shore.

Due to the size of our party we had to go with the Group Menu but it was very reasonable and boasted a wide variety of everything you could ask for and more.

We started off with some bread and oil and that was followed by a beautiful crisp salad and then a selection of cold meats and cheese.

The Group menu allowed you to pick 2 main Tapas dishes and with 7 people in attendance and 13 Meat/Fish dishes on the menu…. We made our choice of “all of the above and an extra Ribs”.

Service was swift and seamless and very friendly. While awaiting the first of the dishes, we talked about the beautiful interior of the restaurant and its homely feel. We also discussed our usual amount of garbage and apologies to the others in the restaurant from our loudness, but we love a good laugh.

I’ll be honest and say I am late in completing this review and remember the exact details of the dishes is difficult but what I can say, is that they were all magnificent. A special mention to the Pork cheek and the chorizo sausage. We ended up ordering more from an extended menu and I highly recommend the Tempura prawns, a crispy golden crunch of delight. The Sea bass was also a party on the pallet.

The night was completed with churros and chocolate sauce and I would have happily drank a pint of the warm, dark and silky accompaniment.

We ordered some coffee’s and finished our alcoholic beverages before bidding farewell to Leith and heading back into the centre.

Massive thanks from all at Food Club for a great night with brilliant service and majestic food

Unfortunately our November outing was postponed but this month we’ll be heading west to Glasgow and to the Arisaig restaurant. Of course with it being the festive season, there is bound to be a little extra merriness.

This review appears in the October edition of Bite Magazine, and can be found online here . Heading into The Waterline with mum on an August Saturday night, it was quickly apparent how well it would fit with this month's theme of celebrating all that is retro. Joni Mitchell and The Rolling Stones were on the hi-fidelity sound system, ok, it was probably an iPod, but I can pretend it was vinyl and we were pre-metric system. The pub's theme is 'olde nautical', and we settled in for a night of comforting eats and drinks by the shore. With an absence of Mateus on the wine list, instead we got into the groove with a bottle of fresh Italian rosé (£14.29) to sip on whilst checking out the menu. The Waterline is part of the Belhaven stable of pubs, however with several touches they manage to avoid going down the 'carbon copy' route when it comes to the food offer. Service is friendly, and the team are evidently (and as it turns out, rightly) proud of their pub's fare. I started with garlic m

I'd never visited a tapas restaurant before so when some friends suggested we visit Tapa I was excited but was apprehensive about whether or not I would be full from sharing tapas dishes. We were welcomed into the restaurant and immediately shown to our table by friendly staff who explained how the food would be served and what our options were with the menu. We were first served with a range of jamon, chorizo and bread to start us off while we looked through the a la carte menu. I decided on the calamares and baby back BBQ ribs for my tapas and we were also served two types of potatoes and a salad to go with our meal. Believe me when I say their 'baby' back ribs are not small when you're eating it on your own!

My favourite part was, of course, the churros with the chocolate dipping sauce at the end. It was my first time trying churros and I immediately loved it. I'm looking forward to going back with friends and family for more churros and to try other tapas dishes on the menu!

We love Tapa. Just to get that out of the way first. It’s where we had our first dinner date, gone back to celebrate an anniversary and now to celebrate my birthday. So for us, it holds lots of lovely memories.

Tapa can be found on a little street down the shore. It has a lovely laid back atmosphere and the staff follow that as well. They look after you but also leave you to pick over the food, drink wine and chat. You don’t feel rushed. Although the food does come out very quickly and because it tastes so good, it’s hard not to wolf it down.

We had such a lovely time here. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. I'd say this is easily the best tapas I've ever had. It was hard to pick a favourite dish everything was excellent. Even the starter bread with homemade dips was exceptional. Must tries are the pork cheeks and octopus ceviche. The cheesecake is also so light and delicious, I've never had anything like it.

We went with a group of friends for a reunion dinner. Everything was amazing. The staff and atmosphere were brilliant. The Food was all authentic and outstanding. We go to Spain numerous times per year but this was as good if not better than anything we have had in Spain. Also the wines were all exceptional and were clearly sourced by the owners with local knowledge and contacts in Spain. This wasn't the typical chain or tied house selection but very good local producers. Can't recommend this restaurant too highly

This place was amazing up until dessert. Fantastic atmosphere. Live guitarist strumming away. Tapas were amazing, especially the artichoke, as one would expect from the eponymous restaurant. Cocktail was ok. Dessert was way off—this is going to sound weird say about fried bread, but the churros were heavy, dense, and way too oily. The portion was huge for a tapas place (8 churros to an order). I ate one. They had only a sprinkle of sugar, and stale oil from the pastry when I bit into it. I would expect churros to be fluffy in the middle with a crunchy crust. This was sadly not that. Most surprisingly, the staff didn’t ask why I left with 7 on the plate. Admittedly, I didn’t volunteer any feedback on the spot either, as they were very busy. This would be a 5* spot if not for the churros and unaware service at the end.

Have been visiting here for many years but due to Covid & then family illness tonight was my first visit for some time. I didn’t think it possible but if anything it’s improved! Wonderful atmosphere, Spanish guitar playing in the background, the buzz from other diners, efficient service and excellent authentic Spanish tapas.

Tapa is one of those great rare finds that you just want to tell all of your friends about because it's so cool. Not only are Dan and Greg extremely enthusiastic and passionate about the community and food they serve, the atmosphere and vibe of tapa is perfection. With a carefully selected but plentiful menu there's something for everyone to share, or not share, with each other. Nice touches like an in house rum and beer that has been specifically paired for the food, with a gin apparently coming soon, and plenty of little extras to keep you feeling full. We ordered 2 from the meat section, 2 from the seafood, 2 from the vegetables and one meat platter for two people and were absolutely stuffed. We couldn't not go for some churros afterwards though. Thanks again to the whole team for an amazing night. Will definitely have to come back for the new weekly specials and the live music.

Wow! I thought cafe andaluz was good but this place is amazing. The best tapas I may have ever had. The restaurant is very cute and in a good location near the shore. Highly recommend the chorizo and the patatas alioli. I will definitely return now I’ve tasted the good!

We were there for lunch and to our surprise they had a lunch deal where you get two tapas for 15 pounds + patatas bravas and padron pepers. The tapas were just amazing. Really great. Loved all of them. Get the pig shoulder tapas and gambas. They do 50% tapas on Thursdays. So do ask them about that. Book in advance. We were lucky and got a table but it was absolutely full by the time we were having our food.
