Took my partner here for his 40th and had the most amazing food. The Papaya Salad, Pad Thai, Cry Tiger and wings are to die for and all made to order with regards to spiciness. Lovely warm welcome and atmosphere...felt like I was back in Thailand. Can't wait to go back and try the rest of the menu. Couldn't recommend more. Thank you👌
Very pleasant dinner with excellent friendly service. I opted for the Tom Yum soup served Thai hot and it was just perfect. Both our main courses were standard Thai. Not exceptional but perfectly fine. Would visit again.
I’m a traveller from Indonesia. I was here for having dinner with my family, we were staying in The Royal Mile and found out that this restaurant is reccommended. The service is good, as well as the foods.
I loved the food in this restaurant. Probably one of the best Thai place in the UK. The staffs were very nice and friendly, and the service was good. It takes a bit for the food to come out but worth waiting it. The food is amazing. I also loved how they decorated the place.
This place is tucked away in the alley - be sure you pay attention, otherwise you'll miss it!
The food is nice and the portions are big. Friendly service also.
Excellent Food and perfect service! You should go there for lunch, its only 10 pounds for a starter and a main dish. Be careful with the level of spicyness tho ;)
Unfortunately no steins are served here, which would make it even a more perfect place to be.
Coming from Sydney, I have had a lot of great Thai food in my life, and the food at Krua Khun Mae is just as good! A surprising treat I'm Edinburgh, and a refreshing break from mediocre London food.
The massaman curry is a must have.
Another amazing meal here…. Fish cakes, satay, cry tiger & king prawn medmamung. Stir fried noodles just amazing. The attention to detail on subtle flavours, decor and service makes this our go to Thai in Edinburgh. Tucked away but not to be missed. Portions quite big but it’s so gorgeous you’ll finish it.
Happy I found the pad thai with the taste as exactly how I like it, ie. not too sweet. Vegetables cooked al dente.
I wouldn’t know this place existed if not by recommendation as it’s located at an alleyway called Craig’s Close off Cockburn Street. You cannot get to it without walking some old stone steps in Craig’s Close, so it’s not accessible for people with walking difficulties.
The 2 course lunch menu is really good value at £9.95. Everything we ordered tasted good. They asked us how spicy we wanted the curry and pad thai, note that the chef and waitress are Thai, so we now know that their interpretation of “medium” spice is up a couple of notches than the UK’s “medium”. So I suggest if you think you can take spicy, go for medium cos it’s easier to make it spicer if needed than the other way round.
The setting itself is a bit rundown, strangely I felt like I was in one of the places in Diagon Alley ha ha. The waitress was very nice though. Anyway for the food I would come here again.
Great food, lovely atmosphere. Went with the ribs and steak salad, both were cooked well and had great flavours. Husband went for pad thai and loved it, one of the best he's had
Always fresh and tasty. Nice ambiance in the middle of Old Town. My favorite Thai restaurant of all time, with an excellent curry without coconut milk.
Authentic Thai food in central edinburgh. The staff are very friendly and attentive and the food is superb! If you love Thai food this place is a must 👍🏽
Very nice restaurant, good food and nice atmosphere. I would recommend this restaurant if you are looking for a relaxing meal.
We when here at lunch time and had a nice meal.
