Large crowd in for lunch today and the kitchen staff still did a fine job. Burgers looked absolutely fabulous but I chose the special of steak, brie and bacon ciabatta. Yes! Steak was nice and tender and who doesn't live brie?! Chips are good, maybe slightly salty for me but still polished off the lot. Quick service and reasonable prices.

This is exactly the kind of place I want when I'm looking for a pub. Old, dark wood (and lots of red paint), gorgeous bar, fireplace, ales on tap. Definitely not in Germany anymore!
As we were unfamiliar with the ales, the waitress kindly brought over some small samples to help us choose. Of course I no longer remember the names of the ones we tried, but they were tasty.
I ordered the eggplant (I mean aubergine) dish. It was a strange hodgepodge of ingredients in a dish with mozzarella melted over it - more like something I would make at home when I'm trying to clean out the fridge rather than a combination of foods chosen to compliment each other. But it got the job done (the job being getting rid of my ravenous hunger). My dining companion was equally satisfied-but-not-impressed with his burger and chips. Either food is not this place's strength, or we ordered the wrong things. No matter, really, as we'll be back anyway for the atmosphere and beer.
Had a nice vegetable haggis but it was served with chips instead of mashed potato !
Not really Scottish !!
Tried their IPA (Indian Pale Ale) which was quite nice.
We were part of a group tour and the staff looked after us all very nicely.
Lovely comfortable seats and clean toilets.
