Le di-vin is a vey fine and hygienic place where you can consume a good quality food with the great and diverse quality of French vines!! The staff is very amiable and provides the good hospitality. Overall it was a great experience!!
Hope you can find it..... The wines are very interesting and kept affordable. Food is limited but the French cheese always looks good. We ate Sticky toffee and ice cream, not French but fine.Glass of Champagne £8.95. Pleasant staff when they have time to chat.
Popular wine bar in the West End with a great mezzanine floor overlooking the main bar area. Excellent choice of wines (and other drinks). Sharing platters also available should you feel peckish. Staff are knowledgeable and attentive, prices average for the area. We liked it.
With the weather so poor, wine was definitely in need on this gloomy Tuesday afternoon. Having recently changed jobs, Sarah and I have been spending more time across the west end, getting to know the food and drink scene. Today took us to Le Di-Vin to sample a sharing platter.
An impressive wine list was matched by a bustling atmosphere in a pleasingly spacious and bright bar space. Our pinot noir was delicious and matched by a cheese and meat platter of top quality produce. However, I feel that with a couple of little tweaks, this place could be elevated from "good" to "great". For example, why serve good bread, cheese and meat with little packets of butter you would expect to find at a supermarket cafe? Kind of cheapens the experience. I would also suggest that introducing the cheeses and meats to guests would be a neat little touch, especially since the menu gives a fairly vague description. Those little points make the difference...

Sometimes you just need to escape Edinburgh a little. Not because it's awful in any way, just sometimes you need to be somewhere else for a while. For me, that place is Le Di'Vin. It's like stepping into another world, a lovely rustic French world where everyone drinks wine and shares plates of cheese all day every day. In fact it's not 'like' that, it is EXACTLY that.
The sharing plates of cheese (ok and charcuterie if you are meaty) are sensational. I have no idea what they are, but there are some sensational ones each and every time. Served simply with bread and crackers, and maybe a grape or two, that's all you need. Except maybe a Crème Brulee when they have some left...
Oh and wine. Lots if it. On the menu that is, not that I ordered lots of it... Well maybe that's a lie, but you know when in France and all that.

Le Di-Vin wine bar sits next to and behind La P’tite Folie in Tudor House and is part of the same family. With its double-height ceiling and muted colour scheme, it’s an elegant space. I celebrated a birthday there a couple of years ago, on the mezzanine in the back. It was a great place to be as it was private enough for a party, but inherits the buzz of the wine bar. Last week, C. and I went to Le Di-Vin to try their new sharing plates.
I’ve mentioned before that I like a good sharing plate. I also like a good bottle of wine. Le Di-Vin gives you both. We ordered a bottle of Yalumba Riesling, which turned out to be a favourite of our server who has spent some time at the Yalumba vineyard. Furnished with cool glasses of flavoursome, straw-coloured wine, we had a few pieces of bread, and chatter while we waited for the first platter.
On a Wednesday night, colleagues and couples out to share a bottle or to relax over a glass of wine sit at tables or lounge at the Le Di-Vin bar. Wine is why people go here. There’s a varied and interesting wine list with a good selection of wines by the glass. The clientèle is mixed with a good blend of business people and more casual drinkers. I was really impressed with the range of flavours and textures that the sharing platters offered.
The first platter or planchette as it is on the menu, we had was a delicious mix of charcuteries. C. stuck to the olives and bread while I indulged in a very good rillette on a crunchy crouton, Italian ham with herbs, Jésus de Pays Basque, Parma ham, saucisson de Pyrénées and chorizo. It was all delicious – the Italian ham moist and flavoursome, sweet in comparison to the rich chorizo and melting Parma ham. I hadn’t had Jésus de Basque before. ‘Jésus’ refers to the way the meat is swaddled in the skins like ‘a baby Jesus’ and you get them from all over France. The saucisson was also very good. The thin slices had a clear white rind, like a salami, and a robust scent and flavour that I really enjoyed.
C. joined me when the cheese was brought out. Le Di-Vin serve cheese that is good and ready so what’s on the board will differ from week to week. We shared Tomme de Savoie – a favourite of mine – goats cheese, Livarot, Brie de Meaux, Cheddar and Morbier. Grapes, apricot chutney from Bute, and oatcakes accompanied the cheese. After Herve Mons talk at the Talking Chefs event, I spend more time feeling and sniffing cheese before eating it. Good cheese, like chocolate, melts in the mouth and I particularly like one that wraps itself around your back teeth.
The cheeseboard was relatively mild, but had an interesting range of flavours: Livarot is a washed rind cows-milk cheese that has a whiff of the barnyard if you sniff it hard. It melts in the mouth and has a nice rind. The brie was wonderful. Completely ripe, with snap in the rind and strong, clean mushroom flavours. The Morbier had a firm rind, a delicate streak of ash in the middle and a soothing mild taste. The goats cheese was fresh and citrussy in flavour and wonderfully creamy and smooth.
Le Di-Vin is a good place to meet a friend for wine and cheese of an evening. You can decide how much you want. The sharing planchettes start from tapas size for £5.50 and goes up through medium at £15.00 and large at £26.00. There are also mixed cheese and charcuterie platters and fish platters, if you want to mix it up a little.
Great new bar - best lager beer I've ever tasted! Birthday party up on fantastic mezzanine level, great for between 15 and 30 people! Thoroughly recommended!
Le Di-Vin is an exceptional spot to catch up with friends over excellent wine and food. It has quickly become one of my favourite places to visit in the city. The selection of wines is truly outstanding, with an impressive array of both red and white wines from around the world, and the staff are always on hand to offer their expert recommendations. Their charcuterie boards are the most generous I have ever had, and you can easily make a meal out of them. The building that houses Le Di-Vin is an old Polish church, and it is absolutely breathtaking. It's easy to lose track of time here, and I always do.
Lovely place for chilled and relaxed meal. We went for a light lunch and it was wonderful. Really warm and toastie atmosphere with fantastic staff, just the right side of attentive. The the type of place where time just flies. We will definitely go back for dinner next team.
What an amazing place! We were so glad to stumble upon it, getting away from the busy Edinburgh roads. It has got such a great atmosphere, very friendly staff and a great range of tasty wines. Our waiter Nico was able to choose the wines for our taste and we ended up having an amazing evening in this lovely French place :)

Without a doubt this is one of the greatest restaurants in Edinburgh. The value you get is worth every penny spent. No need to mention that the wine selection is outstanding and the quality of service is just as fabulous.
Had a great night with the gals, good wine and food. It's been years since the last time I went, the team has fully changed, but Nicolas, our waiter, looked after us very well. Super service, will go again.
What an amazing wee hidden gem, I had no idea this place was tucked away round the corner from the main drag on Queensferry road. Stopped in to book the raclette platter for 4 for my brothers birthday in April. Please don’t just rock up and expect to order this as you need to give 48 hours notice, which gave me the perfect excuse to nip in for a quick pint of locally made thistly cross and some Pringles which I must say looked a bit out of places with the backdrop of fancy wines but this is no snobby wine bar everyone was lovely and I can’t wait to be back. Top marks! X

We hosted a family reunion last night. It was absolutely wonderful! In particular Isla and Jonathon were incredible. They went over and beyond to make our evening so memorable. We will definitely be back and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it!
By far the best wine bar I've been to in Edinburgh (and I've done more than five I think). A very good selection of wines by the glass from all around the world. They also serve a massive cheese & meat plate all priced very reasonably. Great staff as well. A wine bar as it should be!
