A brilliant steakhouse with delicious food and service. Its pricing is quite standard for this range of food and it was really tasty. There is a good range of steaks and fish on offer with beef fillet at around £40. The service was excellent, and a big thank you to Tiago who was amazing, efficient, professional and friendly. The atmosphere is also very nice, with incredibly high ceilings you never feel constrained. Overall, it is a 5 star experience and I would definitely recommend you visit if you're around.
Was the highlight of our stay!
Amazing surroundings and such lovely staff. Made to feel very welcome and a nice chilled atmosphere. The food was just gorgeous, and the happy birthday on my plate, a lovely touch 😊 we will definitely return . Thank you for making my birthday treat extra special.
Hawksmoor excels in every aspect of its service. As soon as you walk in, a gracious hostess awaits to provide information about your reservation and seating.
A mere 3 meters from the entrance, skilled bartenders and servers craft the most exquisite cocktails. Upon reaching your table, the attentive staff ensures you are well-informed about the menu.
Our table hostess did such an exceptional job that we ultimately chose a 1.2 kilo steak based on her recommendation (and it was absolutely worth it).
While Hawksmoor may not be budget-friendly, be prepared for a higher bill, but anticipate delectable cuisine, delightful beverages, and, above all, exceptional service.
Hawksmoor has all the ingredients to be a perfect five-star experience. The building is phenomenal and is probably the most immersive dining experience I've had, from the bar in the middle, to the tellers office private room, to the high bank ceilings and dim lights. Everything says 1920s and has an authentic feel.
The food promises to be great. The menu is well thought out and beautifully presented.
The service is great if not a bit stretched thin and rushed (maybe due to being a Friday night).
The starters were the best I've had. Scallops with garlic butter, amazing!
The cocktails were straight out of Gatsby's mansion and tasted sublime.
However, the only reason it was not perfect was that the food had a little more ambition than finesse and that left some of the dishes/sides lacking. For instance the Caesar salad had too much cheese and the steak was a little dry and chewy.
The presentation of the main courses could have been better also.
Overall I am glad I went. I am glad I can say I experienced it. But, I would not be in a rush to return as the price doesn't quite fit the value.
4/5
Incredibly indulgent evening. I had scallops and shared an enormous steak. The venue is stunning. The highlight of the night was the service! We were a group of 7. And when it came to dividing our bill the waitress asked if we wanted to bill in one or divided per couple/person. Absolutely joy to end the evening so simply. Thank you!!!
The food was absolutely superb!! The cocktails were the best I have EVER had!! I only leave reviews when I absolutely feel the need to (which is not very often) so trust me when I say, I would definitely come back! My waiter Dougal was the sweetest!!! I just loved having him!! I am visiting from the states and if I ever come back to Scotland, this is the place to be! Great atmosphere, fabulous food, amazing service, 20 out of 10!!!
A birthday celebration in a place we come to once a year for a special lunch. It’s the first time we took the lunchtime special and it was great value. A taste of Hawksmoor without breaking the bank on a £90 porterhouse.
The mac and cheese didn’t come with the order - but when it did we weren’t charged for it. It really does make it! And the wine was lush. The birthday treat and recognition on arrival made our daughter’s lunch date special.
4.5 Sunday Roast. Prime Rib was a knockout. The trimmings were decent, should have been better re: Yorkshire Pudding and potatoes. The stuffing is terrific. Service was very good and atmosphere was decent. Recommended
A Hawksmoor meal during a quick trip through Edinburgh, the food was delicious and the service beyond expectation. Having commented that we’d like to make the Winslade Wellington, that evening the Manager forwarded us the recipe. Which we made for Thanksgiving lunch today. See last photo. Thank you for a wonderful evening!
Awesome food and service! My first time and a very good experience eating at Hawksmoor. The bone marrow with onions is perfect done and so tasty! So is the the dry aged ribeye beef which is so juicy and delicious. The macaroni cheese and creamed spinach side are also very good. Price wise is a bit on the high side but worth very Penny for the food and services.
