We were waiting for a table to become available at a nearby restaurant and popped in here.
Everything was great- service was prompt and friendly and the prices were impressive for such a good, central location. Only a short walk from the station too if you don't have lots of time
This place to very close to the castle and a very cozy and warm place. The guy at the counter was very friendly and jovial. We had a couple of drinks here and I liked it here. Nice place to visit.
Wow the big Scottish breakfast, bacon, egg, black pudding, haggis, beans and a potato scone....add a Guinness and have all the 5 food groups... Rolled out the door.. It's in the old town good for a visit...
We were staying quite close to this pub, that is open daily until 1am. We however, were more interested in their 7 pound breakfast.
The big breakfast is massive. 2 slices of multi grain toast and butter, a quarter potato scone (something vaguely like an aloo paratha), baked beans, sauteed mushrooms, brilliant bacon, some haggis - also good, black pudding - better than most that I've tasted on this trip, sausages and an egg.
For drinks you can have a choice between coffee, tea and fresh orange juice.
Service is amazing. The staff is really helpful. Its a good place to visit

Used to love this bar, now it's good to alright. Used to serve Joker IPA now just Neck Oil, shame. They used to have an amazing food menu but last few times I've been in, nothing but snacks ( crisps etc) - again, real shame.
Had a lovely day at The City Cafe, lovely food and, staff were great, pool table placed to the back of the cafe bar.
Normal pub in Edinburgh, nothing special happening. Good if you want to get away from the noisy crowd and enjoy a drink with perfect music volume, not loud.
Nice after dinner bar. Good view sitting out and looking down over Princes street and the gardens. We chilled out inside. £5 per drink - Average to low city prices.
Watched the New Zeland Vs Ireland rugby world cup match. Excellent atmosphere. Cons side that no food at all not even a side chips
Best pub in Edinburgh.
We met the landlord and owner and we were made so welcome that going back is a definite.
The atmosphere was Electric. 20/10
It's a nice friendly bar. For a bar it the centre of town, it appears to cater for locals. It just looks like a new round of decor would do it a favour
Great place! Wonderful view from the outside sits, good prices and great Scottish Lager. Very friendly staff ! I will definitely come back next time I'm in Scotland!

A nice bar with friendly staff that also serves really great strong espresso like in Italy.
Staple stopping off place during the festival. Chilling on the mound watching the festival happen is an Edinburgh staple and Washbar is the ideal spot.
