Delicious dinner of dosas and mini idli sambar. Will absolutely come again. Main course in the range of £10-16 (higher end if you want lamb). Starters £3-6. Good portions! Left very happy ❤️

Food was amazing. But don’t expect quantity. Even though u order large the quantity will be very less. Cost is bit higher side if u compare with other Asian/Indian Restaurants over there. I saw few reviews about Card acceptance not available but it was there and they take all kind of cards for payment. Pls visit

Very delicious food, large portions, especially Dosa and friendly staff. They have both spicy and not spicy options. Also lots of meaty and vegan options to chose from. Would definitely visit again, highly recommend!

Amazing food. Was recommended by a friend and I would not hesitate to recommend it. The masala dhosai was fantastic. The chettinad village style curry was divine. Best South Indian food I've had in years. Seriously don't miss it.

Amazing experience from start to finish! Went last Friday Night. Busy place sometimes you have to wait.
Good food with South Indian style but Quantity is very small compared to price.
Quantity has to be increased.

One of the best south Indian restaurants in Scotland. Coconut chutney and sambar tasted authentic. Prawn’s biriyani was too good. Kind of busy during lunch time in the weekends. Service was good. Waiting time after ordering was more than 15 minutes.

The food is incredibly delicious and the price reflects that. I had the chicken biryani which was spot on with every flavour coming together just right. I asked for the food to be as spicy as possible, but it was incredibly mild.
The first thing I noticed was that the menu photos on google maps do not reflect the current prices, with the restaurant being on the higher end of places to eat.
The atmosphere is nice, but not incredible. There are some beautiful paintings and good music being played. Recommend visiting, but not student friendly.

Delicious and authentic idlis and vadas. The sambar and chutneys were amazing as well! The dosa and utthappam were real good too, although could have done with a little less oil. But all in all, they have super authentic food!

Delicious food. Authentic South Indian taste for someone who loves South Indian food. Filter coffee was super hot and perfect. We tried sambar vada, the sambar was super yummy. Vada was crispy and fulfilled my expectations. Mysore masala dosa was of good quantity and had the perfect taste with three different kinds of chutney. Vegetable Kothu parotta was also good had lil more veggies than parotta but was tasty as well. The staff were very kind and courteous.Service is a little slow but since it is prepared freshly it was worth the wait. Overall a very homely experience. Worth trying, highly recommended.

If you have been to India, you will know this is the best of Indian food.

We arrived to be greeted with a warm welcome. All of our table of four had different dishes throughout and we all tastes each others dishes.

Many years ago I was fortunate enough to have travel for a few months round the south of India. Since then I have never managed to find any where in Britain that replicates the amazing tastes of this region. Now I have!!!! What an fantastic meal.

To have tasted eight different dishes and to find every one just as well cooked as the other is very rare. I had the Sambar Idli and then the lamb Karaikudi, one of the best lamb dishes I have ever tasted. The service and busy atmosphere was amazing.

Can't wait to go back.

Decent restaurant for south Indian food. The parosta and chicken curry was decent and was served fresh. The ice-cream wasn't that great as it was too sweet which left a bad taste.

Authentic South Indian food at the heart of Edinburgh, what better could an Indian ,craving for home food ask for.
Disclaimer: They only accept Cash so it would be wise to withdraw cash in case you intend to eat here. Also they are closed between 3 to 5pm on a weekday and their last order for lunch is around 2.30pm so time your visit accordingly.
We tried their Rava Masala Dosai and Podi Dosai, it was delicious . They serve 3 different types of Chutney and sambhar all of which is nice.
Overall Food was good and staff was courteous. Would definitely recommend

Authentic South Indian, we experienced Dosa (Sadaa & Masala), Uttapam & Meals. All were genuine, left us wondering if we could get similar taste in NCR. And service left some gap but possibly can be attributed to language barrier or may be a fall back to meals shops back in Chennai not known for service
Highly Recommended! We went for a meal at night time with a bottle of red wine and had a great time. Two starters and 2 main dishes cost £28 - which was simply phenomenal for the quality of food we received. The atmosphere is sincere and the staff very approachable.

We visited Tanjore on a Sunday Morning. As you enter the restaurant, you get a typical smell of curry leaves. The decor is very average , with only one person to take order from every table and the same person gets you your order at your table . So it takes a lot of time for them to process the order and then finally getting it to us.
I am honestly not a huge fan of South Indian dishes , but being an Indian when you see any Indian food or restaurant, you run for it . Same happened with me. The decor , ambience, staff made me feel like m wasting time and money here .
So , to be safe , I ordered Masala dosa and idli sambar. I got to say this , I had the most authentic South Indian food after a very long time.
Quality:4/5
Taste:5/5
Overall, if you like South Indian food , Must visit this place , but you will have to have patience!!

There is a thali lunch deal which is very good value for money! When you read its description it might seem too big, but actually the different plates it includes are small so you'll manage to finish it. The dosas are also quite nice as well as the chutneys they serve. Excellent option for weekends.

We loved our meal. Started with the tanjore squid, potato bonda and paneer-spinach dumplings (all very tasty with nice accompaniments). Had the chicken biryani (lovely spices), lamb dosai (super crispy), Kerala fish curry (gentle spices lots of depth), chicken kurma (creamy and subtle spices) for mains. The Parota was AMAZING! The staff were very fast and extremely pleasant. Price extremely reasonable

Ok... So being a South Indian I very well know how would a South Indian food tastes. When we moved to Edinburgh, we were searching for a South Indian restaurant n found this. We have been only 3 times to this restaurant in 1 year. Honestly if we really like some restaurant we would visit more. The place is really compact but the price of some dishes they put up is not worth for the ambience of the restaurant. The dosas, idly , chutneys are good. But the chettinad dishes like sukka doesn't taste like sukka. I'm sorry. Biryani is our fav South Indian food and the biryani they serve is not an authentic taste of South Indian biryani. Above all these, there's only a couple of staff there where one among them don't treat the customers with a smile. It happened all the times. I personally don't feel good to eat in a restaurant where the staff are not friendly and interactive. And now we doubt whether we would visit again. And I feel very sorry to say this.

Myself and my cousins were looking for a good Indian restaurant and we actually felt home as soon as we crashed down this place. It's a typical South Indian restaurant were you find authentic South Indian food. The seating is quite tightly packed but enough space to walk.We ordered Chicken Dosai,Paratha and Rava Dosai. The Dosai was crispy with nicely cooked chicken stuffed in it and the paratha wasn't bad.Their chutneys were so good.My eyes caught something fancy on the dessert section on the menu, which was Coconut Paratha. It took some time to come but was worth waiting which was a delicious coconut stuffed paratha served with a scoop of icecream.Would definitely drop in next time I visit Edinburgh

The kind of food they served is quite authentic and tasty too. we had tried idli wada dosa and some main course. Idli was soft and nice. The best part was the sambar which reminds you the food you get in india. ambience is ok. could have done better. Service was okay too. overall experience was good. definitely would recommend for a try!!

The restaurant is too expensive for the quality and the ambience it provides. One of the basic things in south indian foods is Idli and they server them for £6 for 3 pieces. This is almost double the price in best south indian restaurants from london. And over it they make it in the morning and serve you during the day by microwaving it. Pathetic . The sambar and the chutney was good with authentic south indian taste and even the dosa was good but was small in size considering the price paid. The server was very friendly and interactive

Was missing south indian food for about a month or so since we started spending time in the UK, this very site of Tanjore kind of attracted me. We along with our friends walked in to the restaurant.

Its a small place - compact - i could see english men / women having south indian delicacies.

I had ordered Adai and aviyal and i felt at home!! The taste was so authentic. We all enjoyed so much.. Recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes Indian / South Indian..

Tanjore - Takkar!!

Perfectly positioned for a pre Festival Theatre visit for dinner. There is a very extensive menu to choose from, but let me make that easier for you. Order the Dosai! A huge thin rolled crepe will arrive at your table and you will not be disappointed. Fill it with whatever South Indian dish your heart desires, all served with a little bowl of Sambar (which is a delicious kind of lentil stew). This is a BYOB restaurant and if you order before 6pm you get a plentiful array of authentic Indian food for a very reasonable price indeed. Seats and decor are there for function rather than style but don't let that put you off. Also one your vegetarian friends will thank you for.
