This was our first trip to Scotland and we were more than fortunate to stumble onto Martone which was walking distance from our hotel. This little restaurant was superb in terms of service, food quality and atmosphere. The people were incredible - friendly, welcoming and warm - they made us feel right at home. And the food was fantastic. We loved it so much, we returned there 3 more times during our visit. We would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Edinburgh - be sure to put it on list of "must do".
Had breakfast here. Had Lovely waffles with maple syrup and chocolate croissant. The waffles were so delicious. They literally melted in my mouth. It's a beautiful place with very lovely baristas.
The first thing you notice when you enter is - pleasing and welcoming staff.

I don’t usually eat ice-cream unless I’m in Italy, but goodness me this was like a taste of Italy in Edinburgh! Let me tell you, this is the place to eat authentic homemade Italian ice cream in Scotland. There is no comparison!
After graduating from The Carpigiani Gelato University in Bologna, Fabio Martone introduced homemade ice-cream to the Ciao Roma Restaurants in 2010 as he felt that there was a gap in the market for authentic Italian gelato in Scotland. Since then, Fabio has received the Champion Ice Cream at the Royal Highland Show award for the last three years running and to maintain the uniqueness of the flavour, he is the only person who produces the heavenly creations for Ciao Roma Restaurants. 🍦
Lovely tasty Italian food. We grabbed a quick dinner and were impressed with the service and atmosphere. Yummy cherry juice :)
We ate breakfast there every morning of our stay and loved it. Very reasonably priced and the food is great.

After a long day walking around Edinburgh just walked into this place. The ambiance and seating was good. Ordered a PIZZA a veggie carbonera, both were good. Finished with their ice cream. Absolutely loved it.
Amazing food. Not very expensive. Also incredibly delicious ice-cream!! The only bad thing is we ate there with 4 people but we got a really small table. When we asked for the bigger table next to us, the waitress told us that it was impossible. However, the bigger table remained unseated for the rest of the evening. But, still 4 stars for the delicious food.
A simple, good quality Italian café centrally located in Edinburgh. We weren’t sure if we’d stumbled into a tourist trap when we sat down here, but we were pleasantly surprised by what was on offer. I particularly enjoyed an ortolana salad and my dining partner had an excellent roasted hazelnut ice cream. Service was friendly and efficient, and so overall we’d recommend Martone if you find yourself nearby.
Randomly chosen we were really happy to find out was one of the best place in Edinburgh in fact they even win awards with the famous ice cream and dessert they make. Was delicious 🍦🍰😋!

Authentic italian mains and deserts, service is very nice and comforting.
Went with a colleague and my Mom at the recommendation of a friend. It was delicious! The interior reminds me of family run diners/cafes in Rome. The food is delicious! Highly recommend the bruschetta, calamari, spinach and ricotta cannelloni (I will dream of this), and the Panna Cotta. Anna was a gem too.
Authentic Italian café bang in the centre of Edinburgh with a unique, high quality interior and DELICIOUS food! Was really pleasantly surprised by the presentation of the food. Had a croissant myself and it managed to surprise me. Menu has lots of choice as well. Really friendly staff too, definitely would go again!
Staff were over welcoming, we were greeted and served by Elaria. She was really professional and very chatty.

Absolutely loved Martone! Struggling to find somewhere to eat with my son, sister and niece after seeing The Lion King and we came across Martone! Staff were super friendly and the food was amazing! Kids got milkshakes made from any icecream they wanted and we got cocktails! Couldn't recommend this place enough! ♡
