The best food with home made flavor I have eaten in Edinburgh in years. The atmosphere of the place is just the coziest <3 Everyone who comes in feels like greeting each other so you can have an idea of the comfort. Staff is very friendly and very helpful and the price is very fair for food you feel was made with love. Thanks, Alplings!

I fear this place is now permanently closed due to Covid but I really, really hope not, because you would be sorely missed. The food is awesome! They serve the best cabbage salad I have EVER tasted (& have taken home bags of it to enjoy at home) & the dumplings are just lovely. The café itself is also very cute with friendly staff & a it's nice place to hang out, even just for a coffee. So, Martin & team, if you're reading this, I hope you can open at some point in the future or at least for local delivery for dumplings & cabbage salad! Best wishes to you all.

Fantastic food and a great place to just sit in and unwind. The dumplings were really filling and tasty, the apple strudel was tremendous and the coffee I had as well was excellent. I'll definitely be back and would highly recommend a visit to anyone.

Came to one of their regular evening events and the food was absolutely delicious! A small choice of options but all lovely - and the deserts were especially outstanding. It's bring your own wine but they also have super Left Field kombucha.

I've been to the pop-up dinners twice. It's such a lovely place, real alpine food. I absolutely love the dumplings, so much so I've ordered them from their online shop. The portions are huge and the service is really friendly.

Food is fresh and very, very tasty. My wife is from the Alps and says it is 'food from home like my Mum and granny make'. Authentic Alpine food. Our 4th visit here and will be going back really soon.

This is a real gem if you're in the Leith area of Edinburgh. The whole vibe of the place was quirky but original, with taboggans and other Alpine oddities dotted around the café and a refreshing colour palette. The music was also notable for being neither Top 40 fodder nor elevator jazz, but soothing 1940s jazz & swing from the likes of Louis Armstrong as well as some lesser-known German groups too! The food itself was delicious and a world away from the clichés of stodgy, artery-assaulting food often levelled at cuisine from the Alps. The spätzle were cooked to perfection and served with a delicious, rich tomato and red pepper sauce with a generous helping of Parmesan on the side. Meanwhile, my partner enjoyed the delightful, multicoloured dumplings in a variety of flavours. Whilst a teensy bit doughy, they were complemented by the tangy, fresh Sauerkraut. To drink, we ordered a flat white and bottled Kombucha which, after dismissing it as too hip for its own good, was actually refreshing and delicious. I can highly recommend Alplings as a place to enjoy a meal or just some coffee in a serene, relaxing environment.

The food was delicious and had the joy of tasting brand new flavours! The main dumpling dish was really really special and the apricot biscuits were perfect! Very low prices, its worth going to if you're on a budget or not, would be the first place I recommend to anyone going to Edinburgh.

Had dinner here for the first time. I've enjoyed the alpine dumplings before but dinner was a big step up. The food was really good, the service was friendly and quick. Really enjoyed it and will definitely be heading back next time they do evening service.
