Quirky, elegant and lovely cozy patisserie
We stopped here after a few hours shopping to enjoy a selection of cakes!

*There was a huge (and I mean huge) selection of cakes/pastries/treats to choose from and they all looked so professional and lovely

*The mixed fruit tart was not very nice at all... Very bland and boring
The other two treats though were very very yummy, creamy and enjoyable... Both highly recommended by myself.

*portion size was pretty good as well for the money (which was pretty considerable - £3-4 for each of the above slices)

*The atmosphere is buzzing and busy and there was always people there to help and give advice/names of the cakes and treats

Overall a great little place to stop by in if your up that way and fancy trying a selection of different cakes

*They also do an offer to get 4 slices for £10 to take away - great idea and deal

I wouldn’t normally have walked into a London chain when on a holiday in Edinburgh, but this was a tiring day full of a lot of walking, sight-seeing and shopping which resulted in us having forgotten to grab a bite to eat. When we walked past Patisserie Valerie on Rose Street, in the middle of all hustle-bustle of this lively touristy road, this seemed to be the only calm little Café which seemed to have seating for us.

Patisserie Valerie is always an attraction because of the tremendously gorgeous looking cakes which they always have on display; usually this is a temptation I resist by not even entering the place. However, I was on holiday and so why not? We quickly grabbed a seat and a decided to get the Afternoon Cream Tea. What arrived was a pot of delicious fruit tea, a selection of jams, some rich cream cheese and hot scones. Needless to say, I was happy at the end of it all.

The best part was smothering the scone with Apricot jam on one side and cream cheese on the other; this was delicious and sinful which is always an achievement during a holiday meal. The service was quick and attentive, and they happily provided us with refills of jams which only added to the brown points being awarded to this particular branch.

I’m quite sure what is available at this particular branch is quite identical to what is available at all Patisserie Valeries across the UK. Nonetheless, this one will be a memorable experience for me because of how delighted I was with my Afternoon Tea experience, how lively the location was and the Devon Cream Cheese that I stocked up on inside my belly.

A few months ago, my partner purchased me an afternoon tea here as a present. And it was a delight. The cake were sublime, scones were morish and even the sandwiches felt special. The staff were helpful and friendly. A real treat! Thank you

Lovely pastries and very kind staff. I find it unfortunate that the menu displays caloric value as I don’t need numbers that often create an unhealthy relationship with food attached to something I want to enjoy. Would definitely come back again though.

We had a Buyagift voucher for afternoon tea. Tried to use it a few months ago but the manager said they had 2 people in for afternoon tea already and couldn't manage any more! He was rude and unwelcoming. Today we went back to try again and were warmly welcomed by a different man who could not have done more for us. His colleague who brought our tea & food was similarly very friendly & helpful. Afternoon tea was lovely (apart from sandwich fillings - both meat) and service was excellent. What a difference the change of staff made! 👏

Visited with my family of 6 with Groupon vouchers for cream tea. Staff were excellent. Scones and coffee / hot chocolate was all great. Service was polite and friendly, they cleared a lovely window seat for us. Really enjoyed our visit and highly recommend (especially as our visit coincided with a downpour and kept us out of the rain but wonderful sun 🌞 emerged as we left!)

We were given a Buyagift voucher for an afternoon tea here. You visit the Buyagift website and fill in your details. There was no need to book a table as it's walk-in to get a table, so be prepared to wait if it's busy. Luckily, on our visit, we got a table without waiting. We ordered our drinks, latte and a coke, then our food came out. Sandwiches, scones and cakes. The sandwiches we thought could have been a bit better as the fillings were cucumber and butter on one, a slice of ham covered in mustard in another and the third chicken with what looked like pesto ( it was green, we couldn't tell by the taste). The scones were warm and when combined with the jam and clotted cream tasted great. The cakes were super light and tasty. We loved them. The servers were polite, prompt and well presented. The toilet, there was only one, shared, that I saw, was clean and tidy. We did hear from one of the servers that there was no Chef at the time of our visit, so this might be why we got mediocre sandwiches if not I think a change of fillings for these sandwiches would help to improve them. Our deal also gave us the option of choosing cakes to go. As we were going for drinks and walking about Edinburgh, we asked if we could get a box of macarons instead, which we were given. These were lovely, too. The afternoon tea is a lovely light lunch, especially if you are planning on walking about the area and don't want to bag up on a full meal, pity about the sandwiches.

We had a Buy-a-Gift voucher for afternoon tea which we used here today. The cafe was quite busy but we had called in at the right time and got a table straightaway. Staff were friendly and helpful, and our drinks and food arrived quickly. I'd requested vegetarian sandwiches and overall these were okay, although the cucumber sandwich was a bit underwhelming. Scones were absolutely delicious and cakes were really lovely and light. Overall this was a great experience and a nice treat.

Had a Groupon deal for a coffee and cake as a little treat to myself on my recent solo trip to Edinburgh. This charming little coffee shop is tucked away behind Princes Street. The staff (an older gentleman and a young guy) were both very nice and offered table service. It was so hard to choose a cake, as they all looked delicious.. But eventually I settled on a strawberry slice which was lovely. The latte was nice too. I stayed for around 45 mins, had a read, finished my food and let's just say,it won't be my last treat, as Im already booked up for another visit in November!

Staff were extremely friendly and polite. Food was nice but not quite the expected serving portions compared to the list of named breakfast items on the menu. As mentioned in another customer’s review, there was boxes all over the floor that had to be avoided when trying to access the toilet (which had an old dirty hand dryer chucked on the floor under the presumably newly installed one).
