Maxies Bistro & Wine Bar - Edinburgh - Photo album

As you walk down stairs the atmosphere captivates you and makes you feel at ease. It can be warm down there, but after walking about and getting cold outside it was welcoming. I ordered the haggis and mussel starters because I wanted to try these on my first trip to Scotland. See my photos for the
Excellent food! We had the seafood pasta and the fish & chips, both were delicious. It was getting chilly that evening so we ordered hot chocolate to go. Excellent!
American Chef here! The Goat Cheese Salad was amazing! The rest of the meal was very good as well. The service was good but not great that is why that along with the atmosphere I can only give 4 stars! Lots of potential to make this one of Edinburghs top restaurants.
Absolutely fabulous meal here. Great service. Very friendly.
Nice lentels cream and chicken stuffed with haggis. The chicken was a bit overcooked and dry. Kind staff
Warm atmosphere. Servers were so friendly and really couldn’t have done enough for us despite the busy time. The food was tasty. We had a selection of starters as a main. We also came for a drink before and sat out on the balcony which overlooks Victoria street. A lovely view and evening.
The terrace seating were full and we had to sit indoors for our lunch. Go for the terrace seating for a much better view and ambience. Fish and Chips were a bit fishy smell. Other wise, good service, and central location.
Stopped by for some lunch, Lisa was wonderful! So friendly and welcoming, good was delicious and big portions. Really cute and cosy vibes.
We ordered Haggis (as starter), steak and fish&chips. All amazing. Staff are really friendly as well. Very happy with the experience here.
We stumbled upon this nondescript restaurant after visiting the Castle. A small front leads to stairs that take you down to a long, narrow dining area. Ask for the terrace, with lovely seating in the back that overlooks the Cowgate/Grassmarket area. The menu was varied; order the Brie & cranberries
Really busy Edinburgh Tattoo time but still managed to fit us in (party of four). Not any good if you have mobility issues as you have to go down stairs. It doesn't look much from the outside but warm atmosphere inside also have a great terrace area for eating outside. Now to the food when the waitr
Great little family run bistro my partner and i really enjoyed the food I had the Scottish traditional fish and chips and she had the haggis neeps&tatties. Both ended up with empty plates highly recommended 👌🏻
Popped in for a drink with my daughter on our way to the castle. Had the most amazing mulled wine. Then later on got one at the Christmas Market, such a disappointment.
