Today we had a walk around our old haunts in the Old Town of Edinburgh: the High Street, Victoria Street, the Grassmarket, the West Port, Candlemaker Row.  I had planned to eat vegetarian haggis nachos at The Last Drop but it seems it is no longer one of my favourite pubs now that they no longer serve the nachos.  Instead I had vegetarian fish and chips at the Beehive.

Although I've only had the tomato soup and the beef roast here, I can definitely say I wasn't disappointed with my meal at all.

The soup was flavourful and hearty, and came to the table piping hot (a good thing because the weather was terrible). The roast was very tasty. The Yorkshire pudding, potatoes and gravy were absolutely amazing - I was so tempted to order more of those three. The carrots and parsnips were nice and sweet, although they could do with a bit more cooking. The beef was good too, but I wished it was a bit more tender.

I recently had the chance of eating there with a friend and we liked the space and beer garden a lot. Although I have had better burgers in other places in town, theirs are also quite good! so worth a try, especially if you are in the area.

I have always pooh-poohed the Royal Mile as a tourist trap; a place that in order to buy a coffee, you would need to remortgage your house. However, I was proven wrong when I went down one of the little rabbit warrens just off the Mile and ended up in Bro

I would have never discovered this place if one of my friends had not booked us into the "Literary Pub Tour" which starts from here. While waiting for the tour to begin, we explored the place, and discovered that it was unpretentious and resembled every other pub on the outside, but the interior told a different story. Three floors, and a nice outside seating area in the back with views of the castle. There are tables out front as well, for those who want to people watch.

They have an extensive selection of beverages which should satisfy most people. I do plan on spending more time when I go there next, and also sample their food which looked interesting. I only had a pint there, and the staff were friendly and welcoming.

The Beehive Inn not only has a great spot on the Grassmarket, but it also has a large beer garden in the back that many people don't know about! There is a whole outside bar to go with it, although mainly the big-name brands have a presence outside so you have to pop inside get get your craft beer and bring it outside. I enjoyed the Beehive's large number of Free Fringe comedy shows taking place upstairs during the Fringe, and it was also fantastic to enjoy a drink outside on the relaxing beer garden in summer!

A pub with a rarity in Edinburgh - a beer garden. It is decorated with flowers and has a nice feel to it as punters try and enjoy the scarce Edinburgh sun as it decides to grace us with it's presence.

This is also, an absolutely gigantic bar, spanning three floors and including the beer garden. There is no chance of not being able to find a seat, although the top floor is only sparingly used for functions.

The food menu is just a standard, traditional pub grub list and cooked to a non-exciting level. The drinks range is quite big and the staff know their stuff when it comes to certain products such as the cask ale.

A decent pub with a great beer garden, worth a visit on a sunny day.

Ordered the seafood risotto. This dish was absolutely delicious that I forgot to take photo before diving in. The squid could have been a little crispier but it didn’t take away from the dish at all. The wife ordered the vintage cheddar Mac and cheese and that was one of the best Mac and cheese’s I’ve had. They forgot the garlic bread but quickly made it right and very apologetic. With all the pubs through Edinburgh we will definitely be back.

Lovely place with nice atmosphere . Such a shame they are understaffed. Poor staff were so busy and had little time to get tables ready. But they were trying. We had few beers and lovely food

We brought a few of our visiting guests from America here for a pub lunch and we all loved it. Great menu, cracking selection of drinks and tap ales. Fun, friendly service and good prices! I had the salmon and cheddar fishcakes and a half Guinness, perfection!

Lovely place. Nice atmosphere (green king chain) . We had to wait over an hour to get our food but other than that it was just fine and the food is good.

Myself and my partner visited here on Tuesday and got a bite to eat and a drink, and the quality of the food was outstanding, couldn't fault a single thing! That good we returned for more on the Wednesday, and again the food was absolutely fantastic Great atmosphere. Very attentive staff, great place to visit if your into your history (or good food for that matter!) Overall a solid 10/10, will definetly be returning.

One of the best pubs in Edinburgh. Very good customer service too. The only con I find is - the food and drinks take a lot of time to arrive. The washrooms were super clean and the pub was very neat and tidy. Do remember that the pub is always crowded and don't forget to reserve a table before coming to the pub.

This was the place we chose for our first meal out in Edinburgh and it was the right decision. As we entered they told us they could be an hour wait for the food but actually it didn't take any longer than usual. The service was friendly and efficient. The food was absolutely top notch. I would especially recommend the haggis fritters, even for those whose imagination of haggis puts them off. Prices were also very reasonable.I highly recommend this place!

Lovely pub with a good selection of drinks, draught, bottle, etc. However I did find a pint rather pricey (£6.55) Staff were all friendly and polite. Especially the chap running about delivering food, collecting glasses, etc. I ordered the BBQ Korean burger, and it was really good. The chips were cooked perfectly, crispy and fluffy! Burger was amazing. Cooked very well and full of flavour. Will definitely visit again.

Very nice place, where we have been allowed to eat with our 3 children. They have a restaurant on the 1st floor, beautiful. Ordering bas been fast. Starters and Main courses were good looking and tasty. Children have appreciated homemaid coca and limonade. We will come back.
