I like Saikō. It's a cosy little place serving no-nonsense oriental food of perfectly good quality, quickly and reasonably priced. In my few, recent visits I never found it full or noisy. Waiters are nice and smily. Ideal for impromptu dinners when u don't feel like cooking, for a chat with a friend. Try the ramen duck soup, for instance: good approximation of the genuine article I had in my visits to Japan, good quantity, good taste. Recommended.

Had an excellent Pad Thai here, friendly and helpful food, lots of gluten-free and vegan options, as well as meat dishes. Dog-friendly.

The tofu banh mi was great. The chips were well seasoned (spicy!) But a tad too salty. They had a really nice high chair for the little one as well 😊

Had some lovely Japanese style curry, breaded chicken, and Thai style noodles. Not really authentic food but delicious nonetheless.

Really yummy food. Cute place, fun vibe, friendly staff. Prices were average, maybe a bit high. There were small plates that were nice for appetizers. Only complaint is that the ice cream cake takes a long time because they have to let it thaw, which they did not warn us about.

It's a small but clean. The waiting time was insanely short. Both my friend and I ordered a tofu pad thai for takeaway and the taste was great. However i'd say the portion was a bit small for the price!

I love it, it's great. The food is tasty, they have vegan and vegetarian options, as well as meat. It's always quiet at lunchtime. I love the iced coffee.

Really nice Thai/ Malay style cafe. Staff were super - really attentive and helpful without interrupting our chat. Pad Thai was fresh and fragrant and shin beef noodle soup was perfectly full of flavour yet clean and sharp. Lovely high chairs and space for buggies. Love it here and will definitely be back.

Great food that tastes and looks fresh. The chicken noodles bowl soup is just great. And service is friendly. Ate here 3 times in 3 days.

A little pricy but totally worth it! The Bhan Mi are killer and go perfectly with a Vietnamese iced coffee. Would recommend.

Good value for tasty food. Could use more greens and thin sliced meat for a more authentic experience. Fish cakes a bit chewy but good. Very good service.

Best takeaway Pad Thai I've had. Too often dishes like Pad Thai arrive home in a bit of a stodge. This was fresh, aromatic and visually appealing. First time we went they had gone a bit heavy handed with the fish sauce which was a bit disappointing. Second time we went I asked for less fish sauce and they were happy to oblige. Delicious. The rice paper rolls with guava were delightful. We've not eaten in, but the atmosphere inside when we collected food was relaxed and inviting.

Absolutely amazing Pad Thai, definitely my go to dish when I'm there. Great place to grab a quick bite for lunch.

My partner and I regularly visit Edinburgh. When in the Capital Saiko Kitchen is a staple of our diet. Between the two of us we have tried almost everything on the menu and love it all. I know of no other place in Scotland which offers authentic Vietnamese Bánh mì (something we have craved since visiting Vietnam). Iced coffee's here are also out of this world! Starbucks who???

Can't rate this place high enough!

This place was recommended by a friend. And so I decided to give it a whirl since I didn’t fancy going back into town to fight with the Christmas office party goers. At first glance. It’s a cafe. The menu is a mix of Asian influences. Quite frankly I think they’re a little bit confused. Still... I ordered the spring rolls and pho-chicken. Ingredients are fresh but I don’t think they’ve quite got the taste right.

A very affordable Japanese cafe in a quaint area of central Edinburgh. Service was excellent and there is a very relaxed atmosphere in the place with modern decor. I went in for lunch and I think it maybe is a better lunch place rather than a dinner restaurant but haven't been in at night so can't compare. The food was delicious and very thoughtfully prepared. I think there is a takeaway option as the waitress seemed to ask everyone that came through the door if they were sitting in as soon as they walked in the door, this got slightly annoying. There is a wide selection of Eastern Asia cuisine on offer and it all looked very appetising. Dessert selection was very disappointing though. Also it was a strange music selection as it was UK indie music from 90's and a lot from 60's, I wasn't arguing as I loved the tunes that were playing, it was perfectly my taste, just thought it a bit strange in a Far Eastern restaurant. All-in-all a very nice wee place for some quality Eastern cuisine in a relaxed atmosphere. Definitely recommended.

Something a little different from the cafes of Marchmont, I was super excited to see this new Vietnamese fast food restaurant. The decor is fresh and trendy and though, the menu isn't huge, there's an interesting selection of dishes and the prices are just right. We tried the tofu banh mi which had a tasty nutty flavour and the pad thai which was a bit too spicy. Though the flavours were as amazing as other Vietnamese restaurants, it's a nice place to grab lunch or stop in for a Vietnamese coffee.

Recently Saiko kitchen has started to open later. Usually I'm not in the area for lunch, but on the way home after work, I decided to hop in for a bite.

Instantly this feels like a cafe open for dinner. Lack of menu's means reading the menu off the wall, but partially covered by the lamps, it was frustrating to see what was available. We did however have a quick look before a few weeks before and the one item I was excited to try was sold out from a busy lunch. I'm all for restaurants not wasting food, but still a little upset it wasn't available.

What we did order however was pretty good, dim sum and a fresh roll, tasted superb, these guys really do their food good, but it's obvious this is really a lunch location. Lack of bar alcohol limited their drink selection and with no real dinner options, it was just a bit of a disappointment for dinner.

In saying that, I'll head back here for lunch one day soon, but I'll skip dinner until they maybe change the menu.

I enjoyed my first visit to Saiko Kitchen and I look forward to popping in again, soon. There’s plenty to tempt on their diverse menu
