Had a dinner night there. Loved the concept. Wee plates to share and I found out a little bit about Lord Monboddo (never heard of him, but pleased I do now)
Mozzarella and sun-dried tomatoes tart was awesome. Pork belly and lamb flank (I was told that they make seasonal changes in the menu) were super delicious (to be honest not a big fan of the chickpeas with the lamb). Cauliflower fritters were nice. My biggest surprise was the Rhubarb burnt cream for dessert. You have to try it.
From the cocktails
The cocktail Born with Tails just perfect!
Definitely I'll come back. The team was fantastic. Well done everyone.

Great bar attached to the Hilton Doubletree Edinburgh. The bar is well stocked and the prices are not too expensive for a city centre hotel.
The staff were friendly and helpful.
The COVID-19 protocols were in place and enforced when we visited.

So we have been ending the night here for the last couple of days, with a few drinks. The atmosphere is laid back and great to wind down. Tonight, we actually had some food, and that was really good as well. The staff has been friendly and inviting and is really attentive, unlike a neighboring pub, where I was passed by many times trying to get drinks after standing in line for at least 6 min(when I made it to the bar). The staff for me makes this place a must try.

Dined there on our first night in Edinburgh, after long drive up we felt it would be perfect to eat there and explore more the following days. It was absolutely delightful, the food was immaculately presented, fresh, flavoursome and out if this world, It was sparsely populated with most people in there enjoying a nice cocktail and a pint of Innes and Gunn. I would highly recommend the restaurant, I had the Prix Fixe menu with haggis spring rolls. cod loin and chocolate fondant. It was all incredible. Just one word of warning, the wife had a cocktail that nearly knocked her socks off, they are potent and full of booze.

It's a very classy bar with nice comfy sofas. Staff are good, toilets are immaculate.
Drinks are slightly pricy. This is basically the bar of Double tree Holton.

The best kept secret in town for a quiet drink. I love the laid back, relaxed feel Monboddo has. We met friends for dinner here a week ago but they'd just changed their menu and it didn't suit us. Still a great place for a drink though.

2018.... we've come back a few times since the initial review but we've found the staff to be constantly under pressure and unable to give the service you'd expect from such an establishment. Please remedy this as we want to come again for the great atmosphere and cocktails
2015 Excellent cocktails. Andrea is a total perfectionist! Every time we come to Edinburgh we come here. Love it

Came here to use wifi, as my home is struggling with the internet connection at the moment. I was looked after by Lorenzo, who is a great bartender/server. He was truly welcoming, attentive, friendly and just simply great with customers. Had tea and scone, which was great!
They've got paper straws, which is always a bonus for me. I hope they've got other sustainable measures too. ;)
Also, two people walked in, looked at the menu, then wanted to walk out, but they were stopped by a team member asking them how they could make them happy. Just simply WOW!!

Lorenzo and Ines are excellent hosts and provide personal, professional and courteous service. We had a light meal and drinks in the bar, and the experience was exactly what we were seeking. Visit this bar with confidence that you'll enjoy the experience.

BEST meal on my trip was at my hotel. The quality and presentation were perfect. I enjoyed it so much I ordered it again the next evening. If you go, I hope you have the opportunity to meet Lorenzo. He was so friendly and attentive. I was lucky to sit at the bar with him and we had a lovely conversation.
To Management - Please keep these items on the menu. They were amazing! Also, please thank Lorenzo for his wonderful hospitality. I hope to see him on my next trip.

I've had many a great night in Monboddo and they place has always demonstrated excellent staffing a client service. I've often visited for networking as well and its always been a great experience. They used to offer free drinks for networking events. Food is great too.

The Bread Street Brasserie hosts every last Thursday of the month a Vegan Evening and it's amazing. Although I am not vegan myself, some of my friends are and it's nice to have a place that does a really good three course dinner menu for them with very carefully prepared and presented dishes which also are very yummy. <br/>It's quite a classy place and the staff are always very friendly.

The hotel most of us knew as ‘The Point’ has had a huge refurbishment this past year and now flies under the DoubleTree by Hilton banner. Their ground-floor restaurant, The Bread Street Brasserie has kept its moniker but has had a make-over in the process and is looking rather chi-chi. Hotel dining has always had a tricky rep, but it must be said over the past few years, the culinary efforts available in our city’s hotels has improved immensely. I met my buddy Rachel for G&T in the bar, before moving to the brasserie for a bite and a blether. The menu reads well, with a particularly good smattering of veggie and gluten free options and accents of Scottish ingredients as expected. I started with ‘haggis filo’ (£6), a crisp spring roll stuffed with spicy haggis and served with the classic sweet red onion chutney and well-seasoned parmentier potatoes. Rachel tucked into a warm ratatouille tartlet with a cheddar glaze (£4), which she reported had a lovely short pastry and suitably soft veggies, however to really ‘Med’ it up, it needed a bit more on the ol’ garlic and herbs front. On to mains (both £15) , and despite being a smidge overdone, my pan-seared duck supreme was still tender and flavourful with Asian-style soy and sesame glaze and a superbly zingy radish and grapefruit salad which accompanied the meat to perfection. R’s whole baked plaice was an impressive fish, the soft sweet flesh easily came off the bone and the drizzling of sauce vierge dotted with capers kept things fresh. The side of chunky chips should have been better though, as they were disappointingly soft on the outside. Tsk tsk! Rachel’s espresso crème brûlée was a new take for both of us, bold but sweet, silky as you like and passed the ‘tap-tap-crack’ spoon test with flying colours. My plum and ginger tart was equally proficient on the flavour front, but a dollop of simple vanilla ice cream would have been a better plate-fellow to the maple and walnut variety which appeared. Keep an eye out for this sunny little fellow Sandwiched between Lothian Road and the Pubic Triangle, until now Bread Street wouldn't be my first area of choice for a glam night out. Once I stepped into the marble lobby of The Point Hotel, however, all notion of time and space disappeared. Both the Bread Street Brasserie and accompanying Monboddo bar have a distinct George Street vibe. I met with my friend and fellow blogger Little LB for a midweek girly catch up, and after settling on a bottle of pinot grigio we soon got down to the business of stuffing our faces. Mussels from the Bread Street Brasserie To start I simply couldn't resist the mussels with cream, white wine, garlic and almonds (£6.99). The sauce coated the plump, coral mussels well, and the almonds were a pleasant addition.

it has a light airy brasserie look with a cosmopolitan European look. It's glass-fronted (with frosting to protect from nosey passers-by) so the light is wonderful, even in on Edinburgh Winter's day
